5. Make sure that you are wearing suitable clothing.
Clothing needs to be utilitarian and should not be a hindrance to you during work.
Wear clothing with padded protection to prevent cuts.
6. Wear personal protective equipment.
Use safety shoes with steel toes, steel soles and good rubber soles.
7. Wear a protective helmet.
Objects can fall down or be kicked up and thrown at you.
8. Wear hearing protection.
Wear personal noise protection e.g. ear plugs.
9. Hand protection.
Wear sturdy gloves – gloves made of chromed leather offer good protection.
10. Face / dust mask.
Always wear a face or dust mask if the use of the device results in dust.
11. Remove socket keys etc.
All keys or similar items for trimmer strings or changing metal blades etc. need to be
removed before switching on the device.
12. Always keep paying attention. Concentrate on what you are doing.
Use basic common sense. Don't use power tools when you are tired. You may not use
the trimmer when you are under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that
impair your ability to react quickly.
13. Re-filling fuel.
Always turn off the motor before refuelling. Open the tank seal carefully, so that any
existing over-pressure can reduce slowly and no fuel will spurt out. The work with
the trimmer/scythe will result in high temperatures in the housing. That is why you
should let the trimmer/scythe cool off before refuelling. Otherwise fuel could ignite
and lead to severe injuries. When re-filling the clipper with fuel, take care not to fill
it too much. If fuel is spilled, remove it immediately and clean the device. After
refuelling, make sure the seal screws are securely seated to avoid them being
loosened by the vibrations caused during work.
14. Duration of use and breaks.
Using the power tool for an extended period can lead to vibration-related
impairment of the blood flow in your hands. You can extend the duration of use
by wearing suitable gloves or taking regular breaks. Keep in mind that a personal
tendency to poor blood flow, low outside temperatures or heavy gripping during
work will also influence the amount of time you can use the device.
