2. Take off the air filter screw (3b) and remove the air
filter (3c).
3. Only clean the air filter (3c) by knocking it out.
4. Replace a faulty air filter (3c) with a new one.
5. Re-insert the air filter (3c) and fit the air filter screw
(3b)
6. Attach the air filter cover (3) and secure it with the
clip fasteners (3a).
14.2.2 Maintaining the spark plug (Fig. 4)
Check the spark plug for dirt for the first time after 20
operating hours and clean it with a copper wire brush if
necessary. Then service the spark plug every 50 oper-
ating hours.
1. Remove the air filter cover (3) by opening the clip
fasteners (3a).
2. Take off the air filter screw (3b) and remove the air
filter (3c).
3. Remove the spark plug connector (27) and remove
the spark plug.
Use the installation spanner (25).
4. Remove any dirt from the base of the spark plug.
5. Visually inspect the spark plug. Remove any de-
posits present using a copper wire brush.
6. Check the spark plug gap. Use a feeler gauge to
adjust the electrode gap to 0.6-0.7 mm.
7. Replace the spark plug and take care not to tighten
it excessively.
8. Then place the spark plug connector (27) on the
spark plug.
Use the installation spanner (25).
9. Re-insert the air filter (3c) and fit the air filter screw
(3b)
10. Attach the air filter cover (3) and secure it with the
clip fasteners (3a).
14.2.3 Maintaining carburettor settings
If the saw chain (16) moves at idle or the engine stops
by itself when the throttle is released, a carburettor ad-
justment must be made.
Note:
Have carburettor adjustments (e.g. idle speed) carried
out only by qualified specialists to avoid engine dam-
age.
14.2.4 Checking the chain wheel (22)
(Fig. 3)
1. Turn the chain tensioning screw (19) anti-clockwise
to loosen the chain tension. Use an installation
spanner (25).
2. Turn the fixing nuts (20a) anti-clockwise, so that the
chain wheel cover (20) is removed. Use an installa-
tion spanner (25).
3. Remove the guide bar (15) and the saw chain (16).

4. Check the grooving on the chain wheel (22) with a
test gauge.
5. If the grooves are deeper than a=0.5 mm, do not
use the product and consult a specialist dealer.
The chain wheel (22) must be replaced.
6. Fit the guide bar (15) and saw chain (16) as de-
scribed under 14.2.6.
14.2.5 Checking the guide bar (15)
(Fig. 1, 3)
1. Turn the chain tensioning screw (19) anti-clockwise
to loosen the chain tension. Use an installation
spanner (25).
2. Turn the fastening nut (20a) anti-clockwise, so that
the chain wheel cover (20) is removed. Use an in-
stallation spanner (25).
3. Remove the guide bar (15) and the saw chain (16).
4. Measure the groove depth of the guide bar (15)
with the scale on a file gauge.
5. The guide bar (15) must be replaced if any of the
following apply:
– The chainsaw guide bar is damaged.
– The measured groove depth is smaller than the
minimum groove depth of the chainsaw guide
bar (4 mm).
– The groove of the chainsaw guide bar has nar-
rowed or spread.
6. Fit the guide bar (15) and saw chain (16) as de-
scribed under 14.2.6.
14.2.6 Fitting/removing/changing the
guide bar (15) and saw chain (16)

DANGER
Serious injuries possible due to tearing or
jumping off of the sawtooth!
– Never fit a new saw chain on a worn sprocket or
on a damaged or worn guide rail. The saw chain
could jump off or break.
WARNING
Always wear protective gloves when touching the
saw chain. Danger of injury due to the sharp cutting
teeth!
ATTENTION
Always carry out assembly and adjustments on the
product with the engine switched off and disconnect
the spark plug connector.
