Residual hazards

Protection of persons
l
Disconnect the controller from the supply before you start working on it/open it, and wait for at
least 1 minute since the power terminals U, V, W; BR0, BR1, BR2 and the pins of the FIF
interface remain live after power−off.
– After opening the motec, check that the power terminals L1, L2, L3; U, V, W; BR0, BR1, BR2,
the relay outputs K11, K12, K14 or the electronic switching output K12 (with device versions
001 or 151 or 152 or 153) and the pins of the FIF interface are dead.
– Even if the controller is disconnected from the mains, the relay outputs K11, K12, K14 or the
electronic switching output K12 (with device version 001 or 151 or 152 or 153) can be live!
l If you use the non−fail−safe function Selection of direction of rotation" via the digital signal
DCTRL1−CW/CCW (C0007 = −0− ... −13−, C0410/3 ¹ 255):
– In the event of an open circuit or failure of the control voltage, the drive can change its
direction of rotation.

If you use the "Flying restart circuit" function (C0142 = −2−, −3−) with machines with a low
moment of inertia and a low friction:
– After controller enable at standstill, the motor can start for a short time or change its
direction of rotation for a short time.
l
The motec heatsink has an operating temperature > 60 °C:
– Direct skin contact with the heatsink results in burns.
Motor protection
l
At some controller settings, the connected motor may overheat:
– E.g. longer operation of the DC injection brake.
– Longer operation of self−ventilated motors at low speeds.
Device protection
l
8200 motec 3 ... 7.5 kW (E82MV302_4B, E82MV402_4B, E82MV552_4B, E82MV752_4B):
– Frequent mains switching (e.g. inching mode via mains contactor) can overload and destroy
the input current limitation of the controller:
– Thus, at least three minutes have to pass between two switch−on processes.
– The fan monitoring function must be activated during commissioning (code C0608).
Otherwise, the controller could be destroyed through overheating.
Machine/system protection
l
Drives can reach dangerous overspeeds (e.g. setting of inappropriately high field frequencies):
– The controllers do not offer any protection against these operating conditions. Use
additional components for this purpose.
