WARNING: Make sure the lawn tractor is properly secured and the parking brake is engaged before
proceeding.
3. Use a blade removal wrench (not supplied) to prevent it from rotating.
4. Loosen the blade nut by turning it counterclockwise (viewed from the underside of the mower).
5. Remove the nut.
6. Replace or reinstall the blade.
7. Screw the blade nut onto the shaft and tighten.
8. Tighten the blade nut clockwise using a torque wrench (not supplied) to ensure the bolt is properly
tightened. The recommended torque for the blade nut is 95-115 Nm.
9. Repeat the process for the second blade.
WARNING: Make sure the blade is properly seated and the blade nut is tightened to the torque specifications
above. Failure to properly attach the blade can cause the blade to loosen and result in serious injury.
7.9 Sharpening the blade.
1. To properly sharpen the cutting blades, remove equal amounts of metal from both ends of the blades
along the cutting edges. Sharpen each edge of the cutting blade equally to maintain proper blade balance.
2. Test blade balance using a blade balancer (not supplied). Sharpen the metal from the thicker side until it
balances evenly.
WARNING: A poorly balanced blade will cause excessive vibration, damage to the tractor, and personal
injury.
7.10 Tire pressure check.
For proper traction and good mowing performance, make sure your tires are properly inflated.
7.11 Battery Maintenance.
WARNING: When removing or installing battery cables, always disconnect the NEGATIVE (black) cable
FIRST and reconnect it LAST. Failure to do so may short the positive terminal.
CAUTION: DO NOT remove or connect the battery cables while the engine is ON
1. STOP the engine. Remove the key.
2. First disconnect the NEGATIVE (-) cable from the battery. (Fig. 28)
3. Disconnect the POSITIVE (+) cable.
4. Clean the surface of the battery with a cloth.
5. Use a wire brush and terminal cleaner to clean the battery terminals and
cable ends.
6. Lubricate the battery terminals with petroleum jelly.
