The throttle lever is located on the left side of the dashboard. When
starting a cold engine, push the lever fully forward to the "CHOKE"
position. (Fig. 13)
The purpose of the shock is to restrict airflow so that the fuel-air
mixture is richer (more fuel, less air), which helps start the engine.
After starting the engine, move the throttle lever down to the FAST
position.
Note: When operating the tractor with the mower blade engaged,
move the lever to the FAST position.
6.5 Using the headlights (Fig.14)
Note: Headlights will drain the battery quickly if left on with the engine
off.
To turn on the headlights, turn the key to the RUN position
To turn off the headlights, turn the key to the STOP position.
6.6 Shifting Gears.
NOTE: The tractor is not equipped with an accelerator pedal. Travel
speed is controlled by gear position and throttle position.
WARNING: Sharp turns can affect tractor control. ALWAYS slow down
before making sharp turns.
WARNING: When starting the tractor, the gear must be in neutral. (Fig.
15)
WARNING: After starting, must be in 1st gear before releasing the
brake. Slowly release the brake to get the tractor moving, gradually
increase the gear while driving (no need to press the brake pedal). Shift
one gear at a time. Don't skip gears.
NOTICE: Slowly release the brake pedal to start the tractor moving,
which will improve your driving comfort and make you have a better
driving experience.
Note: When driving on slopes use gears 1, 2 and 3, do not use higher
gears.
4th and 5th gears only apply to driving on a flat surface. Driving at high
speed on slopes can lead to accidents or overturning.
6.7 Driving in reverse.
1. Stop the tractor.
2. Look behind you before backing up.
5. Slowly move the shift lever into reverse.
6. Slowly release your foot from the brake pedal.
6.8 Using the brake/clutch pedal.
NOTICE: Always use the brake pedal to stop the mower before
changing gears. NOTICE: Do not use the brake pedal to control the
travel speed of the tractor. This will lead to premature wear of the drive
belt.
Depress the brake pedal to slow the tractor down and stop. (Fig. 16)
