13. Maintenance
13.1. Maintenance of the backfl ow preventer type BA
The backfl ow preventer type BA must be serviced annually according to DIN EN 806, Part 5. The proper functioning is checked after the fi rst
year of operation and then periodically, depending on the operating conditions, but at the latest maintenance has to be performed after
one year. We recommend the use of our differential pressure measuring case (Order no. 6600.00.911, can be borrowed for 14 days).
The testing equipment in each pressure zone serves to verify the functioning of the valve with the respective measuring devices. The
design of the backfl ow preventer type BA with cartridge technology is made for simple and easy maintenance.
•
Close the isolating valves upstream
•
Remove the thermal insulation outer casings and both pressure gauge plugs
•
Mount the two maintenance ball valves
•
Open the maintenance ball valves to depressurize the valve.
•
Mount the needle valves
•
Open both isolating valves
•
Vent the valve via the two needle valves and draw off water. Then close the needle valves again.
•
Close the isolating valves
•
Slowly reduce the pressure via the needle valve
•
Watch the tundish. At the fi rst drop from the tundish, the differential pressure has to exceed 140 mbar, otherwise there is
contamination or a mechanical defect.
•
Open the needle valve
•
Close the two maintenances ball valves.
•
Remove the measuring device and reinstall the pressure gauge plug on the test port.

Open the two isolating valves
