Explanation
During initial commissioning, the target pressure, cartridge type and size and the raw
water hardness are pre-set. Based on that information, the device works with the basic
parameters during fi lling, but they can be adjusted to individual values, too.
If the installation is equipped with the connection set for the heating water conditioning
cartridge, the latter must be pre-set according to its type and size after having checked
the raw water hardness. After entering the raw and soft water hardness, the total capa-
city of a completely fi lled cartridge is calculated. The maximum usable volume must be
monitored. Filling is aborted if the capacity is exhausted and continued after a cartridge
replacement, if necessary.
The raw water hardness and the soft water hardness are important pieces of information
for the calculation of the range of the water conditioning cartridges.
These two parameters must be determined by measurements and entered on the device
itself. The calculated capacity is subsequently displayed in litres.
For automatic fi lling of the heating installation, the system pressure must be monitored.
This is done with a pressure sensor.
To trigger a refi ll, the system pressure must be lower than a defi ned value (refi ll pressure
= target pressure - differential pressure). If the system pressure falls below the refi ll pres-
sure, the isolating valve opens and the refi ll process takes place. Once the system pressure
reaches the pre-set target pressure, the refi ll process stops.
Independent of the selected language, the raw water hardness can be set to the following
units: °dH, °eH, °fH, ppm
The time to fi ll a new or an empty heating installation for the fi rst time is monitored. If
the system pressure fails to be reached within this time, the initial fi lling is cancelled. The
initial fi lling is carried out during commissioning or when the system is empty and is not
done thereafter.
The refi lling time is also monitored and if the amount of time used is exceeded, the refi ll
process is cancelled. Given, however, that a refi ll presupposes that the system is already
prefi lled, monitoring times can be reduced. If the system exceeds the pre-set maximum
refi lling time without reaching the target pressure, this is detected as a case of suspected
leakage and the isolating valve is closed.
The times used depend on the previously selected size of the installation.
The differential pressure specifi es the pressure difference that may occur between the
beginning and the end of a fi lling process and is used in connection with the target pres-
sure setting.
The number of fi lling cycles specifi es how often the installation can be automatically re-
fi lled within a specifi c period of time without suspecting a fault. If the pre-set number of
refi lls is reached within the selected period of time (day, week, month, year), this is recog-
nized as a fault and no further refi lls will be carried out.
Here you can specify how often the installation can be refi lled without this being consi-
dered a fault. If the pre-set number of refi lls is reached within the selected period of time
(day, week, month, year), this is recognized as a fault and no further refi lls will be carried
out.
During the fi lling process, the water volume used is measured for increased protection
against leakage. If the volume exceeds the pre-set limit value, leakage is assumed. The
installation cancels the refi lling process and reports the suspected leakage.
Measuring the conductivity LW2 of the soft water downstream is an additional option to
detect an exhausted cartridge. If the device detects a sudden increase in water hardness,
it will terminate the fi lling or refi lling process, switch to fault operation and the correspon-
ding notifi cation will be sent. Conductivity monitoring regarding the fi lling level will only
be performed if HVE or HVE-Plus cartridges are used.
The increase of the conductivity value LW2 to the unconditioned conductivity value LW1
(raw water) shall be considered a sudden increase in water hardness (raw water).
If the installation detects a leakage or a fault, an acoustic signal (buzzer) may be genera-
ted in addition to a notifi cation message.
