Operation

Before operation

 WARNING! Risk of injury! Always
wear protective gloves while working
with the saw chain and use only ori-
ginal parts.
You need to do the following before
using the tool for the first time:
• Tensioning the saw chain, p. 51
• Pouring in chain oil, p. 48
• Charge and insert both batteries
• Checking the chain brake, p. 48
• Checking the oil automation,
p. 48
Checking the chain brake
NOTICE! The saw chain does not ro-
tate when the chain brake is locked
into place.
Procedure (Fig. G)
1. Place the chainsaw on a firm, level
surface. It must not touch any ob-
jects.
2. Operate the chain brake lever (5).
3. Hold the tool firmly with both
hands, with your right hand on the
rear grip (1) and your left hand on
the front grip (4). Your thumb and
fingers must tightly clasp the grips.
4. Switch on the tool. A warning tone
sounds. The indicator (34) for the
inserted chain brake flashes.
The chain brake functions.
5. Release the on/off switch (2).
WARNING! Risk of injury from the
trailing saw chain. Do not use the
chainsaw if the chain brake does not
work properly. Contact the service
centre.
Checking the oil automation
Before starting work, check the oil
level in the oil automation system.
48
Procedure
1. Hold the chainsaw over a light-
coloured surface. The chainsaw
should not touch the ground.
2. Switch on the chainsaw.
If a trace of oil appears, the chain-
saw is working flawlessly. If there is
no trace of oil, clean the oil passage
or contact the service centre.
Cleaning the oil passage
Clean the oil passage (35) to ensure
fault-free, automatic oiling of the saw
chain during operation.
Tools and aids required
• Cloth
• Brush
Procedure (Fig. H)
1. Wipe out any residue from the oil
passage (35). Use a cloth or brush
for this.
Chain lubrication
NOTICE! If the chainsaw is used with
too little oil, the cutting performance
and lifespan of the saw chain will de-
crease as the saw chain will become
blunt more quickly. You can recognise
insufficient oil by the smoke develop-
ment or discolouration of the blade
bar. Make sure that there is always
oil flowing onto the chain.
The tool is equipped with an auto-
matic oil system. The oil flows to the
blade bar (7) as soon as the motor
starts operating.
CAUTION! Switch off the tool and
remove the batteries before carrying
out any maintenance work.
Pouring in chain oil
 WARNING! Risk of fire! Always
turn off the device and let the engine
cool down before filling with chain oil.
• Check the oil level indicator (11)
regularly and top up with oil once
the "minimum mark" is reached.
