Hydraulic vent
valve service
Refer to Troubleshooting (→ page 14) to
determine if hydraulic vent valve (24) is
cause of failure (→ Fig. 4).
1 Turn off and disconnect hydraulic
and electric power supply to
pump assembly.
2 Loosen vent hose (8) and supply
hose assembly (2).
3 Remove screws (28) and lock
washers (27).
4 Remove hydraulic vent valve (24).
5 Place base of hydraulic vent
valve (24) in vice to remove
connected elbows (5 and 25).
6 Turn hydraulic vent valve (24) in
vice so vice jaws are gripping flats
machined on base of vent valve.
7 Remove hydraulic cylinder (48).
8 Remove piston and U-cup
assembly (49) from hydraulic
cylinder (48). If oil leakage is evident
from side of hydraulic cylinder (48),
replace piston and U-cup
assembly (49).
Hydraulic vent valve (24)
9 Remove packing assembly (51).
If grease leakage is evident from
side of hydraulic cylinder, replace
packing assembly.
10 Clean and inspect needle (50) and
valve seat (52) for damage by
nicks, grooves or scoring. Replace
if damaged.
11 Remove valve seat (52) from valve
body (54).
12 Remove and replace gasket (53).
Reverse above procedure to
reassemble.
• Needle (50) and hydraulic cylinder (48)
inside diameter should be coated with
oil or grease to assist in assembly.
• Tighten valve seat (52) into
valve body (54) using 25 ft-lbs (39 Nm).
• Tighten hydraulic cylinder (48) onto
valve body (54) using 100 ft-lbs (135 Nm).
10
NOTE
Install outlet elbow (25) facing
down and rotate elbow (14)
approximately 30° toward vent
hose (8) to prevent excessive
rubbing of hydraulic hose on pump.
Failure to comply will result in
damage to equipment.
