The battery is equipped with tempera-
ture monitoring that only permits
charging over a temperature range
between 0 °C and 45 °C. This ensures a
long battery life.
Do not press the On/Off switch again if
the device has switched itself off auto-
matically. The battery can be damaged.
Note the details concerning disposal of
the battery.
6.1 Charging procedure
Figures 10a - 10b
These figures refer to the 18.0 V
/ 4.0 Ah battery and the AL
1810 CV charger.
10a
The charging process starts as soon as
the plug has been plugged into the
power outlet and the battery (D) has
been placed in the charger (S).
Due to the intelligent charging method,
the charging condition of the battery is
automatically detected and the battery is
charged with the optimum charging cur-
rent, depending on battery temperature
and voltage. This gives longer life to the
battery and always leaves it fully charged
when kept in the charger for storage.
Indicator statuses:
The charging process is indicated
by the flashing of the battery charge indi-
cator.
A solid light on the battery charge
indicator signals that the battery is fully
charged or that the temperature of the
battery is not within the permitted charg-
ing temperature range, and can therefore
not be charged. The battery is charged as
soon as the allowable charging tempera-
ture range is reached. When the battery is
not inserted, a solid light on the battery
charge indicator signals that the mains
plug is inserted in the plug socket and
that the charger is ready for operation.
Following a successful charging proce-
10b
dure, first disconnect the charger plug
from the power outlet, then remove the
battery from the charger.

Commissioning
ATTENTION!
DEVICE PROTECTION!
max. 45 °C
BEFORE COMMISIONING OBSERVE
CHAPTER 2 "FOR YOUR SAFETY".
Clean the roller/joint brush (O/K)
before each cleaning operation.
The air inlet openings on the
motor/gear unit (M) must not be
blocked or covered.
Check on a small, if possible hidden
area, that the ground to be cleaned
will not be damaged by the brushing
action.
Never use the device too long on
one spot, always guide at walking
pace.
7.1 Operation
Figures 11 - 14
11
Insert the charged battery into the bat-
tery adapter as shown until this engages
with a noticeable 'click'.
12
Always place the device parallel on the
ground which is to be cleaned. Identify
the most comfortable but also most
effective working angle for yourself
and then adjust the 5 click-stop safety
guard (P) so that the rubber lip is just
above the ground.
Make sure that the surface to be
cleaned is free from debris e.g. stones,
screws etc., which could be flung up.
CAUTION
RISK OF INJURY FROM ROTATING
BRUSHING TOOL!
Never start the device in a tilted posi-
tion!
Do not start or operate device if
bystanders are in the danger zone.
Never put your hands or feet near to
the rotating brushing equipment!
Never clean if others, in particular
children or animals, are in the area!
Never use the device in the rain.
