1.1 Description of the unit
27
- Micro-computer controlled air-
28
conditioning system, consisting of an
internal and outside unit, connected by
28
refrigerant pipes (CE conformity).
29
- Internal unit designed for the "cooling"
function as well as for the "cooling/
29
heating" function.
- Outside units with the CU designation
contain the cooling function; outside
29
units with the designation CUR contain
30
the cooling and heating functions.
30
- With external units with the designation
30
CU ME/MWB, the operation of several
internal units is possible.
30
- Operation and control by means of
30
infrared remote control.

1.2 Mode of operation
34
35
1.2.1Cooling operation
Heat is extracted from the room air via
the heat exchanger (evaporator) of the
internal unit, moved to the outside with
the addition of electrical energy, and there
emitted to the outside air via the heat
exchanger (condenser) of the outside unit.
In this situation, it is possible, under certain
operating conditions that condensation
water from the internal unit may form at
the heat exchanger, which is conducted
away via a condensation line.
1.2.2Heating operation
Heat is extracted from the outside air via
the heat exchanger (evaporator) of the
outside unit, transported into the interior
with the addition of electrical energy, and
there emitted to the room air via the heat
exchanger of the internal unit. In this
context, it is possible that condensation
water may form at the heat exchanger of
the outside unit, which at low
temperatures may freeze and form a layer
of ice, this will automatically initiate a
Order No.
defrost cycle.

Safety precautions
High pressures prevail in air-conditioning
systems, and electrical components are
electrically live. For these reasons, air-
conditioning systems should only be
installed, repaired, and maintained by
trained and qualified personnel. Untrained
persons may carry out simple maintenance
work, such as cleaning the heat exchangers
and cleaning and replacing the filters.
When working on air-conditioning systems,
all the safety instructions must be
respected which are given in the
instructions for installation and use, and on
labels and stickers on the unit. All the
pertinent standards and guidelines are to
be respected. Protective goggles and
gloves are to be worn.
If carrying out soldering and unsoldering
work, make sure that a fire blanket and fire
extinguisher are readily available.
These instructions describe the
installation of Stiebel Eltron split air-
conditioning systems. These may not be
combined with other internal or outside
units. Incorrect adaptation of the units
and incompatibility between the control
elements in the two units may lead to
damage to both items of equipment and
will lead to the Stiebel Eltron guarantee
being declared invalid.
If these operating instructions are not
followed, or if changes are made to the
electrical connections, Stiebel Eltron will
not accept any responsibility and the
guarantee will be invalidated.
It must be ensured that the power
supply to the unit is disconnected
before any maintenance work is carried
out. Electric shocks can result in injury.
