Connection Options
The UD 700 is generally used in the following two configurations:
1. To load the UD 700, connect it to a programming device (PG) or PC
directly or via a modem connection.
2. To transfer user programs and configuration data from the UD 700 to a
target device, connect it to the target device via the multipoint
interface.
Note
If the UD 700 is connected to a live MPI socket via a PG 70X cable, it will
be supplied with voltage via the MPI connection. The 24 VDC power
supply of the target device must have a minimum of 0.6 A current
reserves.
If insufficient current reserves are available, an active target device may be
disrupted when the UD 700 is connected, resulting in a reset.
If you do not know what current reserves are available, switch the target
device CPU to STOP before connecting the UD 700 to the MPI socket.
Any other configuration requires the plug-in power supply unit.
