UD 700 Operating Modes

UD 700 Connected to a Target Device
If the UD 700 is connected to a target device, downloads from and uploads
to the target device can be carried out.
In this operating mode the UD 700 emulates a PC. Depending on the target
device involved, the UD 700 emulates either the SIMATIC Manager or
ProTool.

Download (UD --> S7/C7)
The S7 user program and the OP configuration are transferred to the target
device without any further operator involvement. If no data are stored in
the UD 700 for one of these components (CPU or OP), then the download
process will skip this particular component. During a download the S7 user
program is transferred to the target device first, followed by the OP
configuration. A subfunction such as "Load OP" or "Load CPU" can be
selected or skipped by pressing the appropriate key during the download.
Upload (S7/C7 --> UD)
After the function S7/C7 --> UD has been started, an S7 user program is
uploaded from the target device (S7 CPU or C7 CPU) to the integrated
memory in the UD 700 without any further operator involvement. All S7
blocks contained in the CPU and marked as "active" are transferred. In the
PG/PC <--> UD operating mode, these blocks can be read out from the
UD 700 with the SIMATIC Manager.
The OP configuration cannot be uploaded from the C7 OP or the UD 700.
