Component Properties and System Characteristics
7.6 Theoretical
Reading Range
20
Under ideal conditions, the electric field intensity in the far field (approximately > 70 cm)
decreases reciprocally in relation to the distance (free space loss). Varying the antenna power
generates an array of curves that allocates a unique field intensity to every point within the
surrounding environment.
The theoretical reading range for the different levels of power radiated from the antenna can be
determined by intersecting the response field intensity with the relevant field intensity curve.
Under ideal boundary conditions, this type of reading range value is calculated in a free field or a
large absorber chamber.
