Set-up for a fuel cell
The individual modules of the ElyFlow system can also be combined to build a fuel
cell. To do this, two working electrode holders and one analyte compartments must be
combined. Working electrode holders made of PMMA allow a view of the gas diffusion
electrodes. For example, it can be observed whether liquid drops form on the gas side
of the electrodes because the electrolyte penetrates (so-called "flooding" of the
electrode) or whether water cannot be removed.
Temperature control via the cell components is not possible in this set-up. The
electrolyte can then be tempered in a storage vessel and must then be pumped
through the cell. The temperature should not exceed 80°C because of the PMMA
components.
