4.3.1. Charging the battery pack on the control unit
We recommend charging the battery pack on the control unit, as you can monitor the
approximate charge status via the LED display [19].
• Switch off the Erivo (see chapter 5.2).
• Switch the Erivo to electric motor operation (see chapter 2.1) in order to prevent
the wheelchair rolling away inadvertently during the charging process.
• Plug the charging plug [23] into the adapter [24].
• Insert the adapter [24] into the charger socket [20] of the control unit.
• Connect the charger to a socket.
• Charging commences. The LED [22] on the charger lights up orange.
• Press the button [18] if you wish to know the charge status. This will briefly light
up green and then flash red 6 times in succession.
At the same time, the LED display [19] indicates the current charge status. In this
context, all LEDs will light up briefly in succession, from left to right. Thereafter,
the approximate charge status is indicated by the illumination of one or more LEDs.
In the diagram opposite, this would be (as an example) three illuminated LEDs in
the bottom row.
If the charging process is fully completed, the LED [22] of the charger will light
up green.
• Next, first disconnect the charger from the mains supply and then remove the
adapter [24] and charging plug [23] from the charger socket [20].
• If the charger has been disconnected from the mains supply but is still connected
to the control unit, electric motor operation of the wheelchair will be blocked.
i
The control unit is deactivated during the charging process. Con-
sequently, electric motor operation of the wheelchair is not possible.
4.3.2. Charging the battery pack in its charger socket
• Remove the battery pack [7] from the wheelchair (see chapter 4.1).
• Swing the cover [31] to one side.
• Insert the charging plug [23] (without the adapter [24]) into the charger socket [15]
on the back of the battery pack.
• Connect the charger to a socket. Charging commences. The LED [22] on the charger
lights up orange.
• The LED [22] of the charger lights up in green if the charging process is complete.
• Next, first disconnect the charger from the main supply, then remove the adapter
[24] and the charging plug [23] from the charger socket [20] and swivel the cover
[31] over the charger socket .
When charging the battery pack, only a charger supplied by Alber
may be used.
A different charger must not be used under any circumstances.
Before starting the charging process, switch off the system and
secure the wheelchair to prevent it inadvertently rolling away by
activating electric motor operation.
The charger must not be left permanently attached to the Erivo.
Disconnect it from the mains socket first before disconnecting it from
the battery pack. Do so as soon as the charging process is complete.
i
Always recharge the battery pack fully. Only interrupt the charging
process in an emergency. The duration of the charging process
depends on the residual capacity of the battery pack.
