2. Commissioning
On delivery, your Erivo is ready for use with all standard operating components and any
optional accessories you may have ordered.
On delivery of your Erivo, your specialist dealer will show you how to operate the system
and any accessories you have ordered. You will also be given this operating manual
which, in addition to the technical information, also contains important driving instruc-
tions. Read through the operating manual carefully, particularly all safety and hazard
information.
The first trip with the Erivo may not take place until after this operating manual has
been read.
Before the Erivo is used for the first time, its battery pack [7] must
be fully charged (see chapter 4.3.1 and 4.3.2).
The Erivo is quickly brought to a standstill in the event of a system
failure or other serious errors in the system, as this is the safe state
in accordance with the standard. The wheelchair user must be able,
both physically and in terms of his reaction time, to counteract the
braking acceleration forces that occur in this regard. If the wheel-
chair user is not able to do this, straps must be worn for trips with
the Erivo.
Similarly, do not smoke while using the wheelchair.
Burning cigarettes could accidentally fall onto the seat cushion [6]
and possibly cause it to melt or set it on fire.
2.1. Switching on the system
Before you begin a trip, you should ensure that the battery pack has been fully charged
(see chapter 4.3.1 and 4.3.2). If this is the case, proceed as follows:
• Push the lever [10] on both motors down to position D. This will put the Erivo into
electric motor operation.
• Switch on the control unit [1] (see chapter 5.1).
• Begin your trip.
• If it is not possible to start your trip due to an error or a fault, this will be indicated
in the control unit by the switch [18] and the LED display [19] (see chapter 6).
In electric motor operation, the wheels are self-locking once the system has been
switched off (see chapter 5.2) and thus perform the same function as a parking brake.
If you are not yet familiar with the Erivo and its travel characterist-
ics, you should start by reducing the maximum speed to a minimum
using the switch [18] (see chapter 5.5).
When travelling with the Erivo, you must observe the safety instruc-
tions and hazard information in chapter 3.
The Erivo may only be operated at temperatures between -25 °C
and +50 °C. Do not expose the Erivo to any heat sources (such as
intense sunlight) as this may cause surfaces to reach high temper-
atures.
