4. Battery pack
Before commissioning the Erivo and before charging the battery pack, read and observe
the general information and instructions and the safety instructions and warnings in
chapters 4.5 to 4.9. Failure to comply with the safety instructions and warnings could
damage the product or result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injuries.
Alber GmbH cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliance with the general
information and safety instructions.
Only use the battery pack enclosed with the Erivo, or a battery pack
supplied by Alber. The warranty/guarantee is rendered void if a battery
pack from a third-party manufacturer is used. Moreover, no liability
for damage is accepted.
4.1. Removing the battery pack
Generally speaking, the battery pack [7] remains on your wheelchair at all times. If it does
need to be removed (e.g. for transport purposes), please proceed as follows:
• Switch off the system at the control unit (see chapter 5.2).
• Pull the fixation [9] on the left-hand side below the front end of the seat out slightly
and, at the same time, use the handle to remove the battery pack [7] from the wheel-
chair.
4.2. Installing the battery pack
If the battery pack has been removed from the wheelchair, you have to re-install it in
the wheelchair in order to commission the Erivo in electric motor mode.
• Ensure that there are no foreign particles (especially metallic objects) in the socket
[14]. Clean the socket if necessary.
• Carefully insert the battery pack [7] into the two guide rails [30] as shown in
the diagram opposite. In doing so, the fixation [9] does not need to be pulled
outwards.
• Push the battery pack back as far as it will go (Attention: Risk of crushing).
The battery pack is automatically locked by the fixation [9] as soon as it is in
the correct position. A clearly audible "click" will be heard in this regard.
4.3. Charging the battery pack
The battery pack for your Erivo should be recharged after any extensive use of your
Erivo.
This can be done via the control unit (chapter 4.3.1) or directly on the battery pack
(chapter 4.3.2) that has been removed from the wheelchair.
The charging process can take up to roughly 7 hours. The charging progress can only
be monitored when charging via the control unit.
Do not interrupt the charging process until the battery pack is fully charged. The LED
display [22] on the charger will then light up green.
The battery pack should always be fully charged.
