Settings at the base exchanger
(optional)
Setting the clock
If teh softening capacity of the base ex-
changer has reduced to 20% it is neces-
sary to do a regeneration.
1 Indicator lamp RM110/Anti Calc Sys-
tem
To ensure smooth daily operations and
avoid calcification of the plant to the maxi-
mum extent possible, a regeneration is
done in the operating breaks in the follow-
ing night from 2.00 hours. For this purpose,
the clock in the head of the base exchanger
must be set to the current time.
For setting the clock:
 Remove the lid of the base exchanger
head.
1 Time switch dial of base exchanger
2 Programme pointer
 Pull out the dial and turn it to the current
time.
 Replace the lid.
Note:
To enable regeneration, the operating
mode switch on the operator panel must
not be set to "0/OFF". Hence, set the oper-
ating mode switch to frost protection during
operational breaks.
If the voltage supply is interrupted (power
failure, emergency stop main switch on site
on "0"), the time switch in the control head
of the base exchanger will stop and must
be readjusted. Otherwise the time for auto-
matic regeneration will be deferred.
Manual regeneration
Manual regeneration is triggered by the op-
erator/ Customer Service in cases of:
– Start-up of the plant,
– inadequate regeneration on account of
lack of salt in the salt tank.
Start regeneration:
 Press red program pointer at the control
head and turn it in the direction of the
arrow towards "START". The control
light at the operation panel RM 110/
Anti Calc System will blink.

Pouring in detergent
ATTENTION
If the detergent container is empty, the
high-pressure pump will draw air and can
get damaged. Check the detergent tank at
regular intervals.
The filters must be at the bottom of the de-
tergent tank.

CHEM 3
(Option) Top care
ATTENTION
Unsuitable detergents can cause damage
to the appliance and to the object to be
cleaned. Use only those detergents that
have been approved by Kärcher. Observe
the dosage and other instructions provided
with these detergents. For considerate
treatment of the environment use detergent
economically.
DANGER
Risk from hazardous materials. All
KÄRCHER cleaning agents to contain
safety, and application notices. Notices
concerning the application must be read
and obeyed. Wear specified protective
clothing/protective equipment.
 Open the cleaning agent tank.
 Pour in the cleaning agent, or exchange
the tank by a full tank.
 Close the cleaning agent tank.
Deaerating the vacuum pipe for the
cleaning agent
When you want to completely clean the
cleaning agent container or to commission
the appliance for the first time, it is neces-
sary to first deaerate the suction pipe:
 Set the washing programme using the
cleaning agent whose vacuum pipe
needs to be deaerated (at the pro-
gramme selection switch)
 Turn the rotary knob of the respective
dosing pump to position 10.

1 Deaeration hose
2 Deaeration valve
 Hold the deaeration hose over a drain-
age.
DANGER
Risk of injury on account of possibly leak-
ing, concentrated detergent. Do not point
the hose at persons or animals.
 Open the deaeration valve.
 Start the high pressure pump by open-
ing the hand spray gun and wait until
the vacuum pipe is free of air bubbles.
 After deaerating the last detergent vac-
uum pipe: Set programme to 'rinsing' at
the programme selection switch and let
it run for 5 seconds.
 Close the hand spray gun.
 Close deaeration valve.
 Roll up the deaeration hose and hang it
above the deaeration valve.
 Turn back the dosage pump to the initial
value.
Refill fuel
DANGER
Risk of fire. Observe local regulations for
handling fuels.
Do not use unsuitable fuels, as they may be
dangerous.
ATTENTION
If the fuel tank is empty, the fuel pump runs
dry and can get damaged. Check the fuel
tank regularly.
Wrong fuel can cause functional disrup-
tions in the burner and poor combustion.
Use only the fuel specified in the "Technical
data" section.
Fuel expands on heating and can overflow.
Do not fill the fuel tank up to the brim.
 Open the fuel tank.
 Fill in the fuel (see technical specifica-
tions).
 Close the fuel tank.
Fill in water softening agent
(Option)
ATTENTION
Risk of functional disturbances. While filling
the softening salts, use only the softening
salt in the tablet form listed in the chapter
"Accessories".
 Open the salt tank.
 Fill up softening salt up to a level above
the water level; better: just fill it to the
top.
 Close the salt tank.
