7.2. Check Before Use

7.2.1. Checking the brakes

Make sure the brake system is functioning properly before each use.
Start up carefully and then release the joystick. The foldable power
wheelchair must come to a halt as usual.
When stationary, the electromechanical brake must be locked in
place with an audible click. Notify your dealer of defects immedi-
ately and discontinue use of the foldable power wheelchair!
The motor brake is working properly if you cannot push the power
wheelchair when it is switched off. However if it is possible to do
this, the electromagnetic brake is defective. In this case, you must
stop using the power wheelchair. Contact your dealer immediately.
7.2.2. Checking the lighting, indica-
tors and horn
Before setting off each time, check that the horn works properly.
If, after pressing the appropriate button on the control panel, there
is no reaction from the unit which is being tested, notify your dealer
immediately and take the foldable power wheelchair out of use.

7.2.3. Checking the tyres

The tyres will wear over time.
Therefore check they are intact before setting off each time.
Check the tread depth of the tyres. The air pressure must match
that specified in the technical data (see Chapter 5).
Contact your dealer if the tyres are defective or worn.

7.3. Batteries and fuses

Your wheelchair is fitted with maintenance-free AGM batteries, so you
do not need to check the liquid level.
If your wheelchair is not used for a longer period of time, you must
connect the charger every 4 weeks, otherwise the batteries could be
damaged by deep discharge.
Before setting off each time, check the charge status of your battery by
looking at the battery status display on your control unit. If the battery
status display is only showing red LED's, you should not travel longer
journeys and connect the battery charger to the wheelchair immedi-
ately. We recommend that you connect the charger to the wheelchair
after every trip.

7.3.1. Charging batteries

Only use approved chargers to charge the batteries (type according to
technical data or supplied by the Bischoff & Bischoff specialist dealer).
Also observe the instructions for use of the charger!
Do not charge frozen batteries.
Batteries should be charged between 0° and 40° C.
For your very first use, we recommend that you drive the scooter until 3
bars are still visible in the display.
(see section 4.1) and then charge the batteries again.
If this state of charge is displayed, you should recharge the batteries as
soon as possible to avoid a deep discharge.
A recharge takes approx. 12 - 16 hours.
During subsequent use, you can recharge the batteries at any battery
level.
You can also interrupt the charging process if the batteries are not yet
full, e.g. because you want to continue driving.
However, if possible, always charge to 100 % so that you have as much
range as possible.
Charging procedure:
First switch off the scooter.
Before you start the charger, check that the power supply is 230 V.
Connect the charger to the mains socket (230V) and then to the charg-
