Replacing the front port

3.8.1 Front port

1. Pull the inner mask out of the groove of the threaded ring.
2. Force open the clamping ring with a screwdriver.
3. Remove the clamping ring, slip ring and support plate.
4. Pull the old front port out of the mask body.
5. Align a new front port with the centre marking and insert it,
ensuring that it is properly seated.
6. Align and mount the slip ring and a new clamping ring.
Attach the hook to ensure the tightest possible fit of the
clamping ring.
7. Compress the nose of the clamping ring with the pliers
R 53 239 until the mask connector is securely located in
the mask body.
8. Attach the inner mask.

3.8.2 Bayonet-type connector (X-plore 5500)

1. Force open the lateral clamping ring with a screwdriver.
2. Remove the clamping ring.
3. Pull the old bayonet-type connector out of the mask body.
4. Align a new bayonet-type connector with the mark and
insert it, ensuring it is properly seated.
5. Align and mount a new clamping ring. Attach the hook to
ensure the tightest possible fit of the clamping ring.
6. Compress the nose of the clamping ring with the pliers
R 53 239 until the mask connector is securely located in
the mask body.

Replacing the visor

1. Unscrew the screws. When cleaning masks with metal
visor frames, hold the hexagon nuts in position.
2. Pry the visor frame apart at the joints using a screwdriver,
then pull it off to the top and bottom.
3. If required, remove the support plate.
4. Remove the old visor from the rubber frame.
5. Insert the new visor first in the upper and then in the lower
part of the rubber frame.
The central markings on the visor must line up with the
seam on the mask body.
For masks certified per EN 136, class 3 (designation on
the mask body), only use visors marked with an "F" (fire
brigade). The "F" is applied in the centre at the top of the
visor.
6. Pull the rubber frame over the left and right edges of the
visor.
7. Moisten the outside of the rubber frame and the inside of
the visor frame with soapy water.
8. First press on the upper, then the lower visor frame.
9. If required, insert the support plate.

10. When cleaning masks with metal visor frames, screw the
screws into the hexagon nuts and tighten until the gap
between the clamping cams is 3 to 0.5 mm.
When cleaning masks with plastic visor frames, insert and
tighten the screws.

3.10 Replacing the inner mask

1. To disconnect the inner mask, remove it all around from
the speech diaphragm groove.
2. To attach the inner mask, insert it all around in the speech
diaphragm groove and centre the centre marking.
3.11 Replacing the control valve discs on
the inner mask
1. Pull out the old valve disc towards the inside.
2. Insert the stud of the new valve disc into the hole from
inside and pull it towards the visor until the undercut of the
stud is visible. The valve disc must make even contact
with the inside surface.

3.12 Replacing the head harness

1. Turn the head harness away from the flap on the mask.
2. Push the clip on the head harness towards the visor.
3. To attach the clip, place it on the mask flap and push it
onto the latch.
4. Make sure that the nose on the flap is correctly engaged in
the hole in the clip.

Storage
● Loosen the head harness as far as possible.
● Make sure that the facepiece is dry.
● Pack the full face mask in its bag or carrying box.
● Store the full face mask in a dry, dust-free place where it
cannot become deformed.
● Protect from direct sunlight and thermal radiation.
● Storage temperature: -15 °C to +25 °C
● Observe ISO 2230 and national regulations concerning
the storage, maintenance, and cleaning of rubber
products.
Dräger rubber products are treated with an agent to
protect against premature ageing which in some cases is
visible as a grey-white coating. This coating can be
washed off with a brush and soapy water.

Disposal

Dispose of the product in accordance with the applicable rules
and regulations.
