Leak test

General notes
Carry out the leak test with a suitable test unit (e.g. from the
Testor or Quaestor series).
Moistening the face seal facilitates exact donning, since the
mask can slide onto the test head more easily.

3.4.1 Checking for leaks

1. Moisten the face seal with water.
2. Moisten the exhalation valve with water.
3. Mount the facepiece on the test head.
4. Make sure that the face seal fits tightly onto all parts of the
test head. If necessary, inflate the test head.
5. Seal the front port (X-plore 6000 series) or bayonet-type
connector (X-plore 5500) with the adapter and produce a
negative pressure of 10 mbar.
The facepiece is considered leak-tight if the pressure drop
is less than 1 mbar/min.
If the facepiece is leaking, consult the following chapter
(see "Test with sealed exhalation valve", page 9).

3.4.2 Test with sealed exhalation valve

1. Remove the exhalation valve disc.
2. Insert the exhalation valve test plug.
3. Produce a negative pressure of 10 mbar.
4. If the pressure drop is less than 1 mbar/min, remove the
exhalation valve test plug and insert a new valve disc.
5. Repeat the leak test (see "Checking for leaks", page 9).

3.4.3 After testing

1. Disconnect the adapter.
2. Remove the facepiece from the test head and dry it if
necessary.
3. Put on the exhalation valve cover.
The protective cap must lock into place.
