Use

3.1

Intended Use

AQA life is suitable for partial softening of drinking
and service water, to protect the water pipes and the
connected fittings, appliances, boilers etc. from mal-
functions and damage caused by lime incrustation.
The product size must correspond to the expected
conditions of use. Information on this can be found
in DIN 1988-200 and in the technical data in Chapter
12 of these Installation and Operating Instructions.
If the product is intended for commercial use, it
must be checked / approved by a BWT consultant.
Operation of the product with regular functional
checks as well as the execution of the necessary
maintenance measures for the safe operating con-
dition in compliance with the operating conditions
on which the planning and installation are based.
3.2

Foreseeable misuse

Operating the system with parameters other than
those specified in this documentation and in sec-
tion 3.1.
Not adhering to the prescribed maintenance and
service intervals.
Using spare parts and consumables not approved
by BWT.
3.3

Disclaimer

The manufacturer is released from any liability if the
customer intentionally or forcibly removes guards
or safety devices, if the customer wilfully modifies
or circumvents the same, or if the customer does
not follow the instructions in this operating manual
or on the system.

Function

4.1

General

The AQA perla XL is a duplex water softener that
functions using ion exchange. It is filled with organic
ion exchange material.
Softened water is available during a regeneration
process.
Regeneration is triggered volumetrically (depen-
ding on the quantity of water). This means that no
remaining supply of softened water is discarded
during regeneration.
4.2

Operation

The mode of operation is consumption dependent.
The ion exchange columns are perfused on an
alternating basis. This alternation maximises sof-
tened water availability and minimises stagnation
in the columns.
The settings are retained in the event of a power
failure during operation.
The date and time are stored for at least 5 years.
4.3

Regeneration

A precision brine meter measures out the brine
required.
The unit is equipped with a device that disinfects the
ion exchange material during regeneration.
Measurement data recording during brine extraction
allows the regeneration process to adapt to current
pressure ratios and keep salt and regeneration wa-
ter consumption to the necessary minimum.
A special salt dissolution and brine cavity within the
regenerative container is used to achieve the shor-
test salt dissolution times, and therefore extremely
short regeneration intervals.
A float switch integrated in the regenerative contai-
ner indicates when the regenerative is running low.
