Other tips

– Repair unstitched seams and tears before
washing. Sew loose buttons tight. Close
zips. Knot the ties on aprons, etc.
– Turn clothing made from delicate fibres
and coloured laundry inside out to protect
the surface.
– Always dry small items of laundry, such as
baby socks, together with a large item of
laundry, such as a towel.

Protecting the environment

– The most efficient cycles with regard to
energy and water consumption are gener-
ally those with a longer duration and lower
temperatures.
– The ECO 40–60, 20 °C and "Wash and
dry" cycles are efficient in terms of com-
bined energy and water consumption:
– The ECO 40–60 cycle is suitable for clean-
ing normally soiled cotton laundry that is
declared to be washable at 40 °C or 60 °C
and that can be washed together.
– The 20 °C cycle is suitable for cleaning
lightly soiled cotton laundry that can be
washed at a nominal temperature of
20 °C.
– The "Wash and dry" cycle can be used to
clean normally soiled cotton laundry, de-
clared to be washable at 40 °C or 60 °C,
together and dried so that it can be im-
mediately stored in a cupboard.
– If you adhere to the instructions concerning
the maximum amount of laundry load, you
can save energy and water.

Amount of laundry

The amount of laundry that can be put in de-
pends on the type and dirtiness of your laun-
dry and the respective wash cycle. You can
find out what the maximum amount of laundry
is in the cycle table on page EN-14.
As a rule of thumb: Load dry laundry up to
one hand width below the upper edge of the
drum.
If you overfill the drum, it may affect the out-
come of your wash. It is best to weigh your
washing before you do the wash. Some
washing weights can be found in the follow-
ing table:

Suitable laundry and dosage

Washing detergent
– Only use detergent suitable for washing
machines. Other cleaning products, such
as scouring powder, household cleaning
agents, etc. will damage the appliance and
your laundry.
– Do not use liquid detergent in the pre-wash
cycle.
