are configured. The correct use of the sport prosthesis must be practised to
ensure safe running and walking. This section contains fundamental informa­
tion on the exercises. See the 647H537 Quick Reference Guide for more
details.
Walking Exercises
Use parallel bars for safety when trial walking with the prosthesis. Begin
exercises between parallel bars after each change to the prosthesis. Always
start with slow, short steps.
In order to help the patient develop a feel for the prosthetic foot, start the
walking exercises with the prosthetic knee joint locked.
Then unlock the prosthetic joint in order to develop a feel for its functionality.
Increase the stride length and walking speed with experience.
Conduct the walking exercises until the patient feels safe while walking.
Running Exercises
Use suitable protective equipment (e.g., for inline skating) for the initial run­
ning exercises. Choose a surface that is not too hard (e.g., tartan track, hall
or short, firm lawn), since a hard surface (e.g., asphalt or concrete) can put
greater strain on the patient and may cause pain.
Adapt the prosthesis to the sport and needs of the patient with correspond­
ing adjustments and settings.
Finishing the Prosthesis
After successful optimisation, the trial prosthesis is converted to the definit­
ive prosthesis by replacing the test foot adapter with the sport foot adapter.

1) Use the adjustment wrench to adapt the flexion resistance to the needs
of the patient.
2) Use the adjustment wrench to adapt the extension resistance to the
needs of the patient.
3) Check the adjustments in dynamic trial fitting and correct as required
according to the table below.
