7.2.3 Driving brake and wheel lock

CAUTION
Insufficient braking
Falling, tipping over of the user due to loss of braking function
► Check the proper functioning of the wheel lock regularly and correct it if necessary.
► Replace worn or damaged wheels.
The wheel lock allows controlled braking and safely parking the therapy aid without it rolling away.
The wheel lock lever can be attached either to the grip bar (see fig. 14) or to the vertical push handle (see
Page 30).
Braking
1) Pull the wheel lock lever (see fig. 14, item 1) up.
2) Do not secure the wheel lock lever.
→ The wheels are released again after letting go of the lever.
Engaging the wheel lock
1) Secure the wheel lock lever by additionally actuating the locking slide (see fig. 14, item 2).
→ The walking aid remains securely braked.
2) Check that the wheels are firmly locked.
3) Pull the lock slide up and release it.
→ Securing the wheel lock lever is deactivated. The wheels are released.
Readjusting the wheel lock
1) If the braking function is insufficient, readjust the respective wheel lock cable with the adjustment screw (see
fig. 15, item 1).
2) Check the braking function.
3) With the wheel lock secured, check that the wheels are locked.

7.2.4 Friction brake

CAUTION
Malfunction of the friction brake
Rolling away, tipping over of the user due to incorrect adjustment
► Check the proper functioning of the friction brake regularly and correct the setting if necessary.
► Replace worn or damaged wheels immediately.
The friction brake slows the rolling movement in a smooth, controlled manner.
► Adjust the pressure of the friction brakes on the tyres and thus the rolling speed of the wheels by opening or
tightening the knurled nuts (see fig. 16).
