1. General
1.1 Environmental aspects
Dispose of packaging materials at the appropriate collection points for recycling.
Handle and dispose of residual fuel in accordance with the applicable legislation and the
technical regulations governing hazardous substances.
Defective batteries should not be disposed off as domestic refuse. Make sure that they
are properly disposed off.
In countries other than Germany, attention is to be paid to the appropriate local
regulations.
1.2 Safety instructions
The following safety instructions are not claimed to be comprehensive, and relate only
to work carried out directly on the vehicle!
It is essential that the personnel working on the vehicle or system are trained
specialists, and that the work is carried out correctly and with the utmost care.
Before all repair and maintenance work, shut off the engine and secure the vehicle
against unauthorized use.
Exercise caution when leaving the engine running.
The exhaust gases cause a severe risk of poisoning.
Moving parts can cause serious injury.
Attention!
As it is necessary to run the engine when conducting the tests, the test equipment – in
particular the digital pressure gage – should be set up such that the operator is not
within range of any possible high pressure jet emission!
Wear protective goggles!
Fuel leakage can cause serious injury to body parts impacted by the jet of fuel
emerging!
- Do not carry out any work in the injection system with the engine running and wait at
least 30 seconds after switching off the engine before beginning any work!
- Pay attention to the readout of the digital pressure gage!
The high pressure pump, rail, injectors and high pressure lines are under high
pressure, even after the engine has been switched off!
- Immediately wipe up and dry off any fuel spillage or leakage when disconnecting lines.
- Always cut the power before disconnecting and connecting electrical wiring.
- Avoid sparks!
