Do NOT use the snow thrower without
having first read and understood this
User Manual as well as all the warning
and instruction decals affixed to the
machine.
Always wear safety glasses or a face
shield during maintenance or repair
work.
6.2
BEFORE START-UP
Check the engine oil level before each start-up
and top up if necessary.
Do not start the engine until the oil
tank has been filled. Running the engi-
ne without oil may lead to irreparable
damage.
1 . Position the machine on even ground.
2. Remove the dipstick (1:P) and check
the oil level.
3. The oil level must be somewhere between the
MAX. and MIN. marks (see FIG: 7).
4. When necessary top up until the MAX level is
reached. Never exceed this limit.
5. For the type of oil to be used (see Heading 2.2).
6. Replace the oil cap.
Check the oil level before each use. The
machine must be on even ground when this
check is carried out.
6.3
FILLING UP WITH PETROL
Use lead-free petrol only. Do not use two-stroke
engine mixtures.
NOTE! Lead-free petrol is perishable. Do not
purchase more petrol than you are likely to use in
one month.
Petrol is highly flammable. Always
keep petrol in a suitable fuel contai-
ner.
Keep petrol in a cool, well-ventilated
place and not in the home. Keep petrol
out of the reach of children.
Fill or top-up the fuel tank outdoors.
NEVER smoke during these opera-
tions. Fill up the fuel tank before star-
ting the engine. Never remove the pe-
trol cap nor add fuel when the engine
is running or still hot.
Do not fill the petrol tank up to the very top. Close
ENGLISH
the petrol cap securely after refuelling and clean
away any spills.
6.4
ENGINE START-UP
Never touch engine parts. These com-
ponents reach very high tempera-
tures and remain hot for up to thirty
minutes after use.
Do not start the engine indoors.
Exhaust fumes contain carbon mono-
xide which can be lethal.
1. Check the auger control (1:K) is not engaged.
2. Insert the key (1:G) in the ignition.
3. Turn the choke (1:M) to closed (right).
Note: there is no need to use the choke if the
engine is warm.
4. Press the primer bulb (1:L) two or three times.
Check that the hole is covered when the bulb is
pressed in.
Note: do not perform this step if the engine is
warm.
5. Slowly pull the starter knob (1:H) until it gives
signs of resistance. Pull sharply to start the
engine.
6. Once the engine has started, open the choke
completely.
6.5
SAFETY TESTS
This machine has been fitted with various systems
to test its mechanical safety and designed to
guarantee total operator safety during machine
use.
After start-up and before using the machine, it
is essential to carry out the following safety tests.
Auger test
1. The engine must be running.
2. Press the auger clutch level against the handle
to activate auger rotation.
3. Release the clutch lever. The auger must stop
within 5 second.
If this test does not give a positive outcome, DO
NOT use the machine. Contact an authorized
service centre and have the machine repaired.
6.6
STOPPING
1. Release the clutch lever (1:K) Note: If the auger
continues to rotate, (see Heading 8.1).
2. Remove the ignition key (1:G).
