Use of electronic devices such as soft starters or frequency
converters is not possible with this switchgear. Pumps must be
connected directly.
2.4.

Conduct during operation

When operating the switchgear, always follow the locally appli-
cable laws and regulations for work safety, accident prevention
and handling electrical products. To help to ensure safe working
practice, the responsibilities of employees should be clearly set
out by the operator. All personnel are responsible for ensuring that
regulations are observed.
Pushbuttons and LEDs on the housing are used to operate the
switchgear, display the operating state, and signal faults. The
housing cover must not be opened during operation.
DANGER due to electrical voltage
There is a risk of fatal electric shocks occurring
when performing work on the open switchgear.
Only operate the switchgear with the cover closed!
2.5.

Directives used

This switchgear is subject to:
• Various EC directives
• Various harmonised standards
• Various national standards.
See the EC Declaration of Conformity for precise details of the
guidelines and standards used.
Also, various national regulations are used as a basis for operat-
ing, installation and dismantling the switchgear. These include
the German accident prevention regulations, VDE regulations and
German Equipment Safety Law.
2.6.

CE marking

The CE marking is found either on the type plate or near the type
plate. The rating plate is attached to the housing.

Product description

The switchgear has been manufactured with great care and is
subject to constant quality controls. Trouble-free operation is
guaranteed if it is installed and maintained correctly.
3.1.

Intended use and fields of application

DANGER - explosive atmosphere!
If the connected pump and signal transmitter are
used in potentially explosive areas, there is a dan-
ger of fatal injuries from explosions! The connected
pump and signal transmitter must always be used
outside of potentially explosive areas. Installation
must always be carried out by a qualified electri-
cian.
The MS-Lift switchgear is designed for
• automatic control of two pumps without approval for po-
tentially explosive areas in lifting units and sewage shafts
for delivery of water/sewage.
The switchgear must not
• be used in potentially explosive areas.
• be flooded.
Intended use also includes observation of these instructions. Any
other use is regarded as non-compliant with the intended use.
NOTE
For automatic control, float switches must be provid-
ed by the customer.

Set-up

Fig. 1.: Overview of operating components
1 Main switch
2 LED indicators
The switchgear comprises the following main components:
• Main switch: for switching the switchgear on/off
• LEDs for displaying the current operating state (operation/
fault)
• Automatic mode
• Pump operation
• High water
• Service interval indicator
• Overload fault
• Winding fault
• Monitoring of certain operating parameters (version S
only)
• Control panel with buttons
• Manual mode for each pump
• Stop
• Automatic mode
• Buzzer OFF/reset
• Contactor combinations for connecting up pumps during
direct starting, including electronic triggering for excess
current protection
3.3.

How it works

The microcontroller-controlled Easy Control switchgear is de-
signed for control of two pumps with a fixed speed with level-de-
pendent switching.
Level measurement is via a two-position control with a float
switch for each pump, which needs to be provided by the custom-
er. The pump is activated/deactivated automatically depending
on the fill level. If a follow-up time is required, this can be set via a
potentiometer.
On reaching high-water level (detected via a separate float
switch), a visual and audible warning is emitted and forced switch-
on of the pumps takes place. The collective fault signal (SSM) is
active.
The current operating state is indicated via LEDs on the front side.
Operation is via 5 pushbuttons on a control panel attached at the
side.
Faults are indicated visually via LEDs and audibly via an integrated
buzzer. The last error is stored in the fault memory.
