Before the drive motor is switched on the hydraulic pump
handwheel must be arrested in the zero position. When the
drive motor has been switched On, the transmission output
shaft starts rotating only when the handwheel is turned
away from the central position. The further it is turned, the
higher is the speed of rotation. When the handwheel is
turned in one direction, the output shaft rotates clockwise;
when it is turned in the other, the output shaft rotates anti-
clockwise.
Normally, the Star knob for the hydraulic motor is turned as
far as it will go to the left. If the desired speed is not obtained
with the hydraulic pump handwheel turned as far as it will go
in one direction or the other, the Star knob should be turned
t o the right. Controls should be operated smoothly in one
uninterrupted movement, not jerkily.

La poignee-etoile commandant le moteur hydraulique est, norma-
lement, tournee 5 fond Vers la gauche. Si, pour Une position extre-
me du volant 2 main, la pompe hydraulique n'atteint pas la vitesse
desiree, il faut tourner la poignee-etoile Vers la droite. Les Organes
de commande doivent etre manceuvres regulierement, sans A-
COUPS.
7.4 Purge D'air de la transmission hydraulique

When cold or first put into service, the transrnission may run
roughly or jerkily. In this case, it can be vented quickly by
being run under load (e.g., with a pump clamped to the
bench) first in one direction and then in the other at varying
speeds until it runs smoothly. The selector lever for the inter-
mediate gear transmission should be moved to the 0 to 1250
revlmin range.
Loud running during the venting process is quite normal.
7.5 Oils for t h e Boehringer-Sturm hydraulic
transmission
The following oils have been tested and approved for the
Boehringer-Sturm hydraulic transmission. They are not
listed in the table according to quality.

transmission Boehringer-Sturm les differentes sortes d'huile sui-
vantes. Dans le tableau ci-dessous, les huiles ne sont pas rangees
necessairement dans I'ordre de qualite.
