WARNING!
WARNING!
Learn the seafaring rules and the COLREG provisions (International Regulations for
Preventing Collisions at Sea). Navigate with care and make sure your charts are up
to date.
Always adapt your speed to the prevailing conditions and the environment. Pay
attention to the following:
Wave height (also ask your passengers' opinion about comfortable speed)
Your own wake (higher planing thresholds, lower displacement speeds).
Observe 'No wash zone' signs and Reduce your speed and wake for the
sake of politeness and to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
Visibility (islands, fog, rain, sunshine)
Familiarity of the route (time needed for navigation)
Narrow and/or crowded waterways (other vessels, noise, wake wash hitting
the shore)
The time and space required to make any necessary stops and evasive maneuvers.

Emergency cut-off switch

All outboard motors are equipped with emergency switches that deactivate
the engine if the operator falls overboard or sways out of position. Attach the
emergency cut-off cord to yourself as soon as you have released the mooring lines.
Please refer to the engine manual for details. If you are operating the boat alone, it
is very important that the engine stop if you go overboard or fall down. Remember,
however, to release the emergency cord before leaving the boat to avoid stopping
the engine unintentionally.
DANGER
At full speed the craft's handling characteristics may deteriorate.
Sudden turns at high speed may result in loss of control. Slow
down before sharp turns, whatever the direction of the turn.
Waves reduce the boat's maneuverability and can cause the
boat to swing from side to side. Reduce speed when wave
height increases.
The rotating propeller may be fatal for someone who has fallen
overboard or is swimming close to the boat. Use the emergency
switch. Always stop the engine when a swimmer or water-skier
is approaching the boat or climbing aboard.
