I. FOREWORD
These instructions for use are valid for the LARY-
EN
VOX Duo Brush cleaning brushes for voice pro-
®
stheses. The instructions for use serve to inform the
physician, nursing staff and patient/user in order to
ensure technically correct handling.
Please read the instructions for use carefully be-
fore using the product for the first time!
II. INTENDED USE
The cleaning brush is used for daily cleaning of the
inner tube of the voice prosthesis.
III. WARNINGS
LARYVOX Duo Brush cleaning brushes for voice
®
prostheses are single-patient products and intended
for use by one patient only.
IV. COMPLICATIONS
Avoid incorrect introduction of the cleaning brush
with tilting/slanting effects on the voice prosthesis,
since this could cause dislocation of the voice pro-
sthesis ➊.
V. CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use the LARYVOX Duo Brush cleaning
®
brushes for voice prostheses for a greatly widened
shunt tube, because in such a situation secure re-
tention of the voice prosthesis in the tissue is not
assured.
VI. PRECAUTIONS
The correct brush size should be selected by the
doctor/physician or the trained medical professio-
nals.
Do not perform any type of adjustment, repair or al-
teration on brush or compatible accessories. If a pro-
duct is damaged, it must be discarded immediately.
VII. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The cleaning brush has a rounded tip to prevent inju-
ries to the mucous membranes of the oesophagus.
By means of the sponge, residual secretions can be
removed from the tracheal flange and its proximity.
By means of the LARYVOX Clip, a stoma lamp can

be fixed to the cleaning brush in order to illuminate
the voice prosthesis brightly for cleaning. ➓
VIII. INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLEANING THE
VOICE PROSTHESIS
Check the LARYVOX Duo Brush cleaning brushes
®
for voice prosthesis for possible damage before
each use ➋. Only undamaged cleaning brushes
should be used for cleaning the voice prosthesis.
Moisten the brush/sponge with clean water before
use ➌.
Make sure your view is optimum ➍. If necessary,
use the LARYVOX Clip with a tracheostoma lamp
®
in order to illuminate the voice prosthesis brightly.
Guide the cleaning brush gently into the inner tube
of the voice prosthesis ➎. (If a replacement prosthe-
sis is being used, it is then imperative to fix the sa-
fety thread of the voice prosthesis with at least one
finger ➏).
Clean the voice prosthesis by gentle forward and
back movements accompanied by gentle turning
movements ➎/➏.
To optimise accessibility to the voice prosthesis, the
cleaning brush may be bent individually at the flexib-
le brush body (not at the brush wire!) ➐.
IX. CLEANING AND DISINFECTION
Clean the voice prosthesis at least 2 times daily with
the cleaning brush.
