14. Charge / discharge process with
BID-CHIP / KEY (at OUT1 only)
Connect the BID chip to the charger using
an adapter lead, or connect the BID key
directly.
When you connect a BID unit, the corres-
ponding symbol will appear on the screen.
by pressing the "OUT1" button.
From this point on the sequence of the pro-
cess is identical to a process started in the
normal way.
It is also possible to adjust the charge /
discharge current during a process; this
can be carried out inter-actively using the
menu interface.
Any change to the selected current only
applies to the charge / discharge process
which is actually in progress. Next time you
initiate a charge / discharge process the
value stored in the "Battery settings" menu
or on the BID chip / key will be applied
again.
At the conclusion of a charge or discharge
process the essential data generated
during the process is stored on the BID
chip / key. This information gives you a
clear idea of the battery's condition and
performance.
Operating instructions
Power Peak E1
If the battery para-
meters have already
been set on the BID
chip, the charge or
discharge process

What information is stored on the BID-
CHIP / KEY?
The last charged-in or discharged capacity
values are updated, the cycle counter is
incremented by one, and the maximum
capacity is also saved, if it exceeds the pre-
vious maximum value.
Of course, the chip or key also stores the
charge and discharge parameters which
you previously entered using the "Battery
settings" menu.
These are:
Battery type
Cell count
Charge current
Discharge current
Final charge voltage
Discharge voltage
Delta Peak sensitivity
Cut-off temperature
Capacity
Date of first use
Note regarding the end of a charge pro-
cess
When the unit is being used to charge Lixx
batteries, the "End" indicator will appear on
the screen when about 98% of the full ener-
gy has been charged into the pack; at this
point the battery can be disconnected from
the charger.
However, if you leave the battery connected
to the charger, the equalizer continues to
operate, and continues to balance the indi-
vidual cell voltages. The equalizer therefore
continues to draw the low current required
to balance the pack's cells.
The charger finally switches off the charge
process when the residual charge current
falls to 40 mA.
