11. Inserting/Removing the SD Memory Card/USB Stick

Never use an SD/SDHC memory card and a USB stick at the same time.
Either insert an SD/SDHC memory card or a USB stick in the recorder.
Duet to he higher power intake of some USB sticks, you may have to operate the recorder with
the included mains adapter (remove any non-rechargeable batteries that may be inserted
before connecting it!).
• If a recording or playback is running, terminate it first.
Switch off the recorder by putting the slider "POWER" (18) in the "OFF" position.
• Fold open the transparent rubber cover on the bottom of the recorder.
• Insert an SD memory card (max. 2GByte) or an SDHC memory card (max. 32GByte) in the memory
card slot until it latches.
Do not apply any force when inserting the SD/SDHC memory card; observe correct orientation when
inserting!
The contacts of the SD/SDHC memory card must point towards the back of the casing when inserting
it in the memory card slot.
• Attach the transparent cover again.
Alternatively to the SD/SDHC memory card, a USB stick (max. 32 GByte) may also be used.
However, in this case you cannot close the transparent cover.
• In the settings menu, you can then select where the recordings are stored (on the SD/SDHC memory
card, USB stick or internal memory).
The SD/SDHC memory card or USB stick must be formatted in the FAT/FAT32 file system.
NTFS is not supported.
When inserting a SD/SDHC memory card, observe that the writing protection must be off for
recordings to take place.
Due to its size (128kByte, approx. 100kByte free), the internal memory of the recorder only
enables a few short recordings.
• To remove the SD/SDHC memory card, push it slightly into the casing. This releases the latching
mechanism of the memory card slot and the integrated spring pushes the memory card out of the
casing by about 5 mm, so that it can be very easily taken from the recorder.
