12. Data Transfer to a Computer

If batteries are inserted in the recorder, the recorder must not be connected to a computer,
because this would trigger charging. Observe chapter 8.
Non-rechargeable batteries must not be charged. It may cause fire or explosion!
Therefore, the recorder must only be connected to a computer if rechargeable batteries are
inserted in it.
Otherwise, remove the SD/SDHC memory card or USB stick inserted in the recorder and read
them right at the PC.
• If a recording or playback is running, terminate it first.
• Fold open the transparent rubber cover on the bottom of the recorder.
• Connect the miniature USB socket (24) with a free USB port on
your computer (or to a USB hub with its own mains adapter)
using the included USB cable.
• If rechargeable batteries are inserted and not fully charged,
charging starts now (flashing battery icon at the lower right of
the display).
If the recorder is connected to a computer, the respective
graphical icon is displayed; see figure on the right.
• Upon first connection to the computer, Windows detects new
hardware and installs the required drivers (included with
Windows).
• The SD/SDHC memory card or the USB stick or internal memory
are now displayed like a removable drive and the data on them
can be transferred to the computer.
While the recorder is connected to a computer, the display shows this connection and the
device cannot be operated.
Never remove the SD/SDHC memory card or USB stick from the recorder while a USB
connection is established. This may lead to data loss and malfunction.
The same applies if you switch off the recorder or pull the USB cable during data transfer.
Wait until the data transfer has been completed before disconnecting the USB connection.
