Submenu "Save To"
In this submenu, you can determine where the recordings are saved:
"SD" = SD/SDHC memory card slot
"USB" = USB stick
"FLASH" = internal memory (128kByte, approx. 100kByte free)
If no suitable data carrier is inserted later if "SD" or "USB" is selected, an error message will
appear on the display when starting a recording.
Submenu "Format" (recording format)
Here, the recording format is set:
"MP3"
The recording is saved in the common MP3 format. Depending on the bitrate set, data
compression may lead to very long recording times.
The MP3 format is lossy, i.e. audio signals unimportant for the human ear is removed.
"WAV16bit"
The input signal is sampled with an accuracy of 16bit and stored in a WAV file without
loss. This setting should be selected if you want to edit the file on a computer.
Uncompressed storage of the recording means that the resulting files will be larger than
those in MP3 format, reducing the maximum recording duration.
"WAV24bit"
The input signal is sampled at 24bit. The higher accuracy may lead to better results when
editing the file on a computer than at 16bit.
Submenu "Sampling"
This submenu can only be selected if the setting "WAV16bit" or "WAV24bit" was selected in the
submenu "Format".
The sampling rate can be set to 8 kHz, 16 kHz, 24 kHz, 32 kHz, 44,1 kHz, 48 kHz and 96 kHz.
The following is applicable: The higher the sampling rate,......
.....the more signal samplings of the input signal are performed per second
.....the higher frequencies can be recorded
.....the larger the resulting data volume to be saved
Common audio CDs are made at a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz and a resolution of 16bit (see
submenu "Format").
