10. Maintenance and Cleaning

a) General Information

Apart from occasional cleaning and battery replacement, the IR thermometer requires no servicing. Always close the
lens cover (6) when you do not use the device.
Always observe the following safety information before cleaning the device.

b) Cleaning the Lens

Remove loose particles with clean compressed air and wipe off any other deposits with a fine lens brush. Clean the
surface with a lens cleaning cloth or a clean, soft and lint-free cloth. To clean finger prints and other grease strains, the
cloth can be moistened with water or a lens cleaning fluid. Do not use any acid-, alcohol-containing or other solvents
and do not use any rough, linty cloth to clean the lens. Avoid excessive pressure when cleaning.

c) Cleaning the Housing

Do not use any abrasive, chemical or aggressive cleaning media such as petrols, alcohols or similar for cleaning. They
will damage the surface of the device. Furthermore, the fumes are hazardous to your health and explosive. Also do
not use any sharp-edged tools, screwdrivers, metal brushes, etc. for cleaning.
Use a clean, lint-free, antistatic, slightly damp cloth for cleaning the device or the display.
If you have any technical questions about handling the device, our technical support is available.

d) Inserting and Changing the Batteries

First insert the enclosed batteries at initial commissioning. To open the battery compartment,
release and remove the screw at the battery compartment and pull the battery compartment
lid (3) off downwards.
First insert the middle battery and then the two outer batteries into the battery compartment
in the proper polarity. The polarity is indicated in the battery compartment.
Close and screw shut the battery compartment carefully again.
Do not leave the batteries in the meter during longer measuring breaks (approx.
> 2 weeks). Even batteries protected against leaking can corrode and thus release
chemicals which may be detrimental to your health or destroy the battery compart-
ment.
You can get matching spare batteries of type Mignon (AA, LR6) under the follow-
ing item number: Item no. 652503 (please order three times).
Use only alkaline batteries, since those offer higher performance and are longer-
lived than conventional zinc-carbon batteries.
