3. Intended Use

The infrared thermometer enables contract-free measurement of surface-temperatures. It determines temperature
according to the radiated infrared energy that is emitted by every object. Contact-free measurement makes it ideal
for dangerous, difficult to access, moving or live objects. It cannot measure through transparent media such as glass,
plastics, water, etc. Instead, the surface temperature is measured at all times. The temperature measuring range is
from -30 °C to +500 °C.
A laser target device with measurement circle display makes it easier to determine the measurement range. A second
laser dot permits determination of the distance in addition to the measuring surface between 22 cm and max. 2 m.
Furthermore, the meter has a white LED light source integrated for lighting dark measuring spots.
It is possible to switch to UV light for leakage detection in cooling systems. This permits visual search for escaping
fluorescent refrigerants.
The IR-thermometer as such must not come directly into contact with the measured surface temperature. A sufficient
safety distance and the admissible ambience conditions must be complied with under all circumstances.
Diagnostic application in the medical area is not admissible.
The degree of emissions can be adjusted to the present surface property of the measured object.
The IR thermometer additionally has adjustable Hi- and Lo-alarm thresholds. An alarm is issued when these thresh-
olds are exceeded or undercut.
Three Mignon batteries (AA, LR6) are used for voltage supply. Rechargeable batteries must not be used due to the
lower cell voltage. No energy supply other than the one indicated must be used.
This product complies with the statutory national and European requirements. For safety and approval reasons (CE),
the entire product must not be changed or converted and the housing must not be opened except for exchange of
batteries.
Using the product for any other purposes than those described above may damage the product or cause a danger
of injury.
Read the operating instructions precisely and keep them. Only pass the product on to any third parties together with
the operating instructions.
