a) general
Press the button "7" briefly to switch on the measurement device. The backlight lights up and
the measurement device immediately begins the measurement process. During the measure-
ment process, the surface temperature of the fixed object is determined by the infrared sen-
sor "6". This calculated value is displayed as a temperature value "13" on the LC display.
As a reference value "12", the currently measured ambient temperature is displayed.
Keep the measuring device at rest on the measurement object to achieve accurate measure-
ment results.
b) "hold" function
The measurement device always determines new, current values . To stop the measurement,
press the ON/OFF/Hold button "7" briefly. The LCD display shows the symbol "HOLD" and
the temperature value "13" is fixed. To disable the "HOLD" function, press the ON/OFF/Hold
button "7" briefly and the measurement process is continued.
c) Acoustic signal / display lighting
The product has an acoustic signal and a coloured display light.
The acoustic signal changes synchronously with the backlight based on the measured tem-
perature. This enables rapid measurement when no accurate readings are required.
To activate the acoustic signal, press the button "1" briefly once. The
LC display.
To turn off the acoustic signal, press the button "1" once again. The
LC display.
The threshold values for perception of the optical and acoustic signals are adjustable. For
these values, please refer to the table in Section Adjustments, "b".
d) target laser
The measurement device has two integrated lasers for better fixation of an object.
To activate the laser, briefly press the button "5" once. The " " icon appears on the LC
display. Make sure that no persons or animals are in the area of l aser radiation.
To deactivate the laser, briefly press the button "5" once again.
e) "mAX/min" values
For future reference, the measurement device stores the "MAX" and "MIN" values o f a
measurement process. These values a re recalculated after restart.
To display the values , press the "LEVEL" button briefly until the desired value "SET MAX" or
"SET MIN" appears on the LC display.
ir spot size ("distance to spot ratio – ds")
In order to obtain precise measured results, the object to be measured must be larger than
the measuring IR spot (ratio of measurement distance to the measured surface) of the IR
thermometer. The temperature recorded is the average temperature of the area measured.
The smaller the object to be measured, the shorter the distance must be to the infrared
thermometer. The precise size of the measuring spot is shown in the following diagram. For
precise measurements, the object to be measured should be at least twice the size of the
measuring spot.

a) temperature unit
The product offers you the opportunity to display the temperature values i n °C or °F.
To change the unit, press the "1" key for min. 2 seconds.
The currently set unit "14" is displayed on the LC display.
b) Acoustic signal/display lighting
The threshold values of the acoustic signal and the display lighting can be adjusted in three
steps. The threshold values relate to 1 °C, 5 °C or 10 °C.
To change the display, press the "LEVEL" button until the desired value is displayed on the
LC display (SET 1, SET 5, SET 10, SET MAX, SET MIN).

mAintenAnce And cleAning
Apart from the occasional normal/rechargeable battery change, the measurement device is
maintenance-free.
Never clean the product when it is turned on.
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, as these
can cause discolouration. Do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning, to prevent
scratch marks.
Clean the sensor disc "6" as required with only a soft, clean cloth.

a) general instructions
D ispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory
regulations.
R emove the normal/rechargeable battery inserted in the measurement device and
dispose of it separately from the product.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all spent batteries/
rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited.
B atteries/rechargeable batteries that contain hazardous materials are labelled with
the following symbols to indicate that disposal in the household waste is forbidden.
The symbols of the relevant heavy metals are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb =
Lead. You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge to
the official collection points in your municipality, in our stores, or anywhere where
batteries or rechargeable batteries are sold.
