d) Capacity measuring
In no event exceed the max. permitted input values. Discharge each
capacitor before connecting it to the measuring instrument. If capa-
citors are short-circuited, high-energy discharges can be caused.
Do not contact circuits or parts of circuits if you measure voltages
higher than 25V ACrms or 35V DC pending within them. Never carry
out measurements at capacitors which are installed into circuits/cir-
cuit components.
Proceed as follows to measure the capacity of capacitors:
- Switch on the DMM on the rotary switch (3).
- Select DMM mode with the MODE button.
- Connect the black measuring line with the COM socket
and the red measuring line with the VW socket till they
are plane at the measuring instrument.
- Set the rotary selection switch (3) to
- Make sure that the polarity of unipolar capacitors (polari-
sed) is correct („+" and „-").
- Now connect the two test prods with the object to be
measured (condenser).
- The measuring value is indicated on the display
- With F2 (REL), you activate the relative measuring function – The measuring value is
set to 0.000 after pressing the button; now only the relative value to the previous
measuring value is displayed. „REL" is displayed when the relative measuring fun-
ction is activated. Press F2 again to deactivate the relative function.
Please observe that the DMM requires approx. 2-3 seconds to stabilise
the display. In order not to falsify the measuring result with the measuring
cables, we recommend setting the measuring value to 0.000 with the
relative measuring function before measuring a condenser (especially
recommended for small condensers).

e) Current measuring

The DMM has two sections for current measuring. In the first range (input socket 5),
you can measure currents up to 400 mA, in the second range (input socket 9) cur-
rents up to 10 A. Both current measuring ranges are provided with fuses and thus
protected against overload.
