The following recording functions may be accomplished in both dual-track and quarter-track Operation.
7.1 Mono Recording with Echo Effects
Reverb and echo effects can also be produced with the SG 561. By
changing the tape speed, it is possible to go from the reverb effect to

recording from microphone(s), press MICRO Switch ©.

Mode Selector ® to ECHO 1 (to record on track 1 or track 4) or
to ECHO 2 (to record on track 2 or track 3). During dual-track Op-
eration the Mode Selector © should always be in ECHO 1 position.

Use Level Control MICRO/RADIO @ to adjust to proper record
to regulate the strength of the effect (reverb or echo).

For best monitoring of echo recordings use UHER Headphones
W 775, inserting the plug into the Headphones socket so that the
MONITOR pushbutton switch should be in TAPE position.

7.2 Stereo Recording with Echo Effects
Echo recording in the stero mode is best accomplished with the aid of
UHER Monitoring Lead K 563.
Procedure:
1. Set Mode Selector® in STEREO Position.
2.
Switch the tape machine to the record function.
3.
Connect Monitor Lead K 563 from £, CJS socket (6-pin plug)
to ;J socket (5-pin plug).
4.
Feed in the input signal to which the echo effect is to be added
either through the ,5 socket or (with the MICRO Switch © in
down-position) through the Q socket and adjust the record level
with MICRO/RADIO controls (2) and © . The MONITOR .Switch
Signal, use PHONO controls © and © .

the record level of the original signal and the MICRO/RADIO con-
trols @ and (D for the strength of the echo signal.

7.3 Sound-on-Sound ("Synchro-Play")

In sound-on-sound recording one track is played while simultaneously
a recording is being made on the corresponding parallel track. An array
of trick effects may be achieved with this technique. For example, one
can sing a duet with oneself. Fig. 10 shows graphically how the tech-
nique works.
