Track location is clearly shown in the illustrations below. The numbers
indicate the track, the arrows the direction of tape movement. Ex-
changing the füll take-up spool with the empty supply spool prepares
for playback of the corresponding second track. For example, with the
Mode Selector in MONO 1 Position: track 2 will be set up for playback
in dual-track Operation, track 4 in quarter-track Operation. In dual-track
Stereo Operation the machine is automatically switched to rewind at
the end of the tape; in quarter-track Stereo Operation the füll and
empty tape spools must be changed over manually.

3.12 Tape Speed Selector ®
Turning this Switch selects one of the machine's four tape speeds and
simultaneously Switches on the power supply (which is off when this
switch is in "0" position). With the Switch in AMPLIFIER position the
drive motor is switched off, so that the amplifier section of the SG 561

Turning this switch selects the tape transport functions STOP, PAUSE
or START. It can be turned only when the Fast-Wind Switch ® is
locked in its neutral mid-position.

This slide control locks in its mid-position äs well äs in its right and
Fast-Forward ^- >• or Rewind -^-^. The switch can be operated only
when the Tape Transport switch ® is in STOP position.
3.15 Counter with Reset Key ®
Pressing the zero reset key cancels any given Index number, returning
the counter reading to "0000". Betöre each recording it is advisable
to press the reset key or to note the starting Index number for fast loca-
tion of recorded passages upon subsequent playback.
