the SG 561 to the tape input socket of the amplifier by means of a
second K 551 lead. The yellow marking at the end of the lead indicates
the left stereo channel, the red marking the right channel. The MICRO
Switch © should not be pressed except when recording from a micro-
phone connected to the Microphone socket Q of the tape machine.
4.3 Connecting to an Amplifier Equipped
with Monitor Input
Fig. 9 illustrates the connection to a high-fidelity amplifier that is
equipped with monitor input connecting facilities and a switch for

selecting from-source or off-tape monitoring. For record Operation,
connect the tape Output of the amolifier to the Phono II socket -J
of the SG 561 via UHER lead K 551 (if the amplifier has einen socketry)
or K 541 (for DIN 5-pin sockets).
For playback, connect the MONITOR socket of the amplifier to the K> <Z2^
socket of the SG 561, using UHER Monitoring Lead K 562 (if the
amplifier has cinch socketry) or K 563 (for DIN sockets). The yellow
marking at the end of the lead indicates the left channel, the red
marking the right channel. Through this connection and with the mon-
itor switch of the amplifier in the appropriate Position (see öperating
source or off-tape through the loudspeakers of the sound System, thus
making it unnecessary to correct stereo headphones for monitoring
4.4 Connecting to a Receiver, a Single-Unit
Console or Tuner
Make connections äs described in sec. 4.1 above, using UHER Stereo
Lead K 541. A record-player should be connected directly to the re-
ceiver, console or tuner. For microphone recording, the microphones
should be connected to the Microphone socket Q of the SG 561 and
the MICRO Switch (T) pressed into down-position.
When recording from radio or record-player, monitoring may be from
source or off-tape äs described in sec. 4.3. It is best to monitor micro-
phone recording through stereo headphones, whether monitoring is
from-source or off-tape.
