5. Proper use

Proper use of the battery and charging device can be
found in the separate instructions for the 20V IXES
series battery and charging device.
The chainsaw may only be used for cutting wood out-
doors. The chainsaw must not be used for any other
purpose.
Do not use the chainsaw for work for which it is not
intended. Example: Do not use the electric chainsaw
to saw metal, plastic, brickwork or building materials
other than wood.
Do not make any modifications to the chainsaw. Safe-
ty may be compromised as a result. The user/opera-
tor, not the manufacturer, is responsible for damages
or injuries of any type resulting from this. Please note
that this device was not designed for commercial use.
First-time users must be instructed to familiarise
themselves with the features of the device. Attend a
state chainsaw training course for your safety.
The petrol chainsaw may only be operated by per-
sons who are aged 18 and above. An exception to
this is use by minors if the use takes place as part
of occupational training in order to gain proficiency
under the supervision of an instructor.
Please note that our equipment was not designed with
the intention of use for commercial or industrial purpos-
es. We assume no guarantee if the device is used in
commercial or industrial applications, or for equivalent
work.
5.1 Non-approved operators:
People who are not familiar with this operating man-
ual, children under the age of 16 and people under
the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication are not
permitted to operate the device.
National regulations may restrict the use of the device!

only be operated using batteries from this series.
Batteries may only be charged with battery chargers
of this series. Observe the manufacturer's instructions.
m WARNING
Follow the safety and charging instructions and cor-
rect usage given in the instruction manual of your 20V
IXES Series battery and charger. A detailed descrip-
tion of the charging process and further information
are provided in this separate operating manual.

6.1 General safety instructions

m WARNING
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common
sense when operating a power tool. Do not use the de-
vice while ill, tired or under the influence of drugs, alco-
hol or medication. A moment of inattention while oper-
ating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
Avoid misuse, use the machine only as described un-
der "Intended use".
■ Before start-up, read the operating manual for your
device and pay particular attention to the safety in-
structions.
■ Warning and information labels attached to the de-
vice provide important information for safe operation.
■ In addition to the information in the operating man-
ual, the general safety and accident prevention reg-
ulations of the legislature must be observed.
■ Keep packaging films away from children, there is a
risk of suffocation!
■ Inadequately informed operators can endanger
themselves and others through improper use. The
operator is responsible for the safety of third parties.
