9. Correct Sensor Operation
Proceed as follows to operate the sensor:
• First, place your finger in the housing to the deep stop as shown in
the figure on the right . Put your finger on the sensor so that the
finger touches both metal strips of the sensor.
• Pull out your finger steadily straightway with medium speed
while touching the sensor with it.
Do not let your finger rest on the sensor during scanning!
The complete scanning process should take approx. one second.
Within this time, the "LED1" will go out and the "LED2" will light
up.
The following items must be considered for best recognition of the finger prints:
• The finger must be moved centrally and flat with slight pressure, so that it touches the metal
strips at the sensor throughout scanning.
• The same finger must be used for programming and verification at all times.
• The index finger is usually best suited.
• Scarred fingers or calluses make recognition more difficult. In this case, use a different finger.
• The sensor surface should be cleaned with a soft, antistatic rag if contaminated.
If recognition has failed, "LED1" and "LED2" will flash several times in a short sequence after no
more than ten seconds. The reason may be, e.g., an unauthorised fingerprint. Fingerprints read in
the wrong direction, too fast or skewed will also not be recognized. In this case, the recognition
process must be repeated.
