The castor fork adjustment mechanism has three settings:
Castor fork angle
Directional stability
Castor fork height
The settings for directional stability and the castor fork height
are combined; by twisting the slightly angled castor axis (A)
(Fig. 1), the fork moves inwards (B) or outwards (C) (Fig. 2).
At the same time, the distance of the fork from the frame also
changes by 1 mm for every full rotation of the castor axis.
The detailed instructions for making the adjustments are
described in the following section.
NOTE: The following adjustments may only be made by Sunrise
Medical dealers
NOTE: You can also find a service video about this on the
Sunrise Medical YouTube channel
WARNING:
Faulty adjustments, or adjustments that have not been
carried out correctly, may cause damage to the wheelchair
or result in a fall and severe injuries to the user and other
people.
Wherever torque settings are specified, it is strongly
recommended that a torque meter (not included), is used to
verify correct torque specification is achieved.
Some of the screws that are used during manufacture are
fitted with threadlock, (blue dot on the thread) and can be
undone and re-tightened up to three times before they must
be replaced with new screws and threadlock.
Alternatively, you can put Loctite™ 243 threadlock on the
screws and re-fit them.
Replacement of the barrel nut
In case there is a need to replace the barrel nut shown in
Fig. 1-D, it is strongly recommended to add carbon assembly
paste (part number 71208300), to ensure an optimal
adjustment. It is highly recommended this adjustment to be
performed by an authorized specialist.
Replacement of the barrel nut, please consider to remove
the safety screw as shown in Chapter 5. Correct orientation
after replacing the barrel nut, the countersink of the barrel
nut must be rotated downwards.
