Glue the frame strips for the fill-in lid no. 30 to the
underside of the floor 28 according to the building
plan sheet. If you already know the exact position
of your steam engine you can also provide
reinforcements 33 and drive-in nuts 31 from below
on the underside, secure them with Epoxi-Rapid
and glue them under the floor.
Plank the hatch cover 34 with strips 35 and fit it
according to plan. Do not glue it in place!
Paint the engine room floor 28 and the hatch
cover 34 three to four times with not too thick pore
filler and sand as mentioned at the beginning.
Then you can glue the engine room floor into the
hull. Use Epoxi-Rapid to glue it to the hull
framework and to glue it to the plastic hull.
To prevent water from getting under the floor, fill
any gaps with transparent silicone.
Cut out the slot for the stern tube 36 according to
the plan. Glue the aft keel 37/38 and the filler
pieces 39/40 to each other according to fig.10 and
plan, fit the parts to the hull and tack them with
super glue.
Place the steam engine on its bottom board. Fit
the fascia boards 41 to the stern keel. Insert the
stern tube 36, align it exactly with the steam
engine axle, and fix it to the frames, the hull and
parts 37 to 40 with Stabilit Express. Fill the gaps
on the stern keel and filler piece as well, and
press the two fascias 41 on. You can prevent
them from slipping away with a drop of super glue.
Carefully wipe off any glue that has squeezed out
at the end of the stern tube. Finally, use Stabilit
Express to form a small groove between the hull,
the stern keel and the filler as shown in Fig. 11.
Attach the rudder tack 42 to the aft keel 37/38 with
the screws 43, but do not glue it. Draw the rudder
coker hole 44 on the underside of the hull
according to fig. 12.
Unscrew the rudder tack 42 again and make the 5
mm hole for the coker. Then you can screw the
rudder tack back and insert the rudder coker 44
into the hull. Now attach the steering lever 179 to
the rudder shaft 45, insert it from above through
the rudder coker and rudder tack and attach the
coker tube to the hull.
Support the rudder coker with coker holders 46,
47 and 48 by joining the parts with Stabilit
Express. The coker tube should be fixed to the
hull bottom with a good glue socket.
Glue the rudder from parts 45 and 49 to 52 with
Epoxi-Rapid. Pay attention to the dimension
between the upper edge of the rudder blade and
the rudder lever. It should be 38 to 39 mm, as
shown on the plan. You can then sand and paint
the rudder blade.
The cabin floor is made from parts 53 to 57, like
the engine room floor. Glue it in the same way as
the engine room floor with Epoxi-Rapid and
superglue.
According to Fig. 13, insert frames 59, 61, 63 and
65 into cabin rear wall 58, cabin front wall 60,
cabin door 62 and side walls 64.
As the window glass is fitted from the outside, the
frame strips must be flush with the inside wall of
the cabin. When fitting parts 58 and 60, make
