To avoid waving on the plastic hull, clamp the side
support strips 6 and the rear strip 7 below the line
in the hull using 3x10 mm auxiliary strips and run
superglue into the gap between the strip and the
hull. Of course, do not glue the auxiliary strips.
Fig.4 shows how to apply the superglue. Apply the
thin super glue really only with a needle or wire.
Many modellers let far too much glue run in, which
then does not harden fast enough and often
enough runs down the side of the boat.
Bevel the edges of the deck, part 8, to match the
hull walls and fit it into the hull. Before gluing it in
place, parts 9 to 16 must be glued to the
underside of the deck. Start with the forward deck
former 13, fit it into the slots in the deck, press the
deck curve with staples or nails, and glue in place.
Place the rear deck frame 14 in the same way.
Glue the reinforcement 9 according to the plan.
Glue frame 10 to parts 11 and 12 according to
fig.5.
Already now you should install the rudder control
unit for the steering according to the plan. The
lower edge of frame 10 must be bevelled and
fitted to the hull before installing the deck.
Glue the cockpit walls 15 and cockpit floor 16 to
deck 8 and frame 10. To avoid glue marks on the
precious wood, we recommend pre-gluing with
superglue and re-gluing with white glue on the
non-visible reverse side.
Apply a bead of ABS glue to strips 6 and 7 in the
hull, press the fitted deck onto the strips, and fix it
in place with tesa strips as shown in Fig.6.
The parts of the frame, consisting of longitudinal
beam 17 and ribs 18 to 22, are glued together at
an angle as shown in fig. 7.
For the following work, carefully study fig. A on
building plan sheet 1.
Place the frame in the hull. Place a drawing angle
on the longitudinal beam 17 and push the angle to
frame 21 with a 3 mm piece of plywood. Place a
straight strip or ruler across the deck at the
vertical edge of the angle (the angle should stand
in the middle of the boat). Now move the
longitudinal beam 17 with the angle until the
applied strip is exactly in line with the deck cut-
out. Then tack the beam in place with superglue.
Now remove the angle and the plywood rest and
glue the bulkhead frame in place with super glue
too.
The frame 10 glued to the deck is now glued to
the hull with super glue as well.
Adapt the engine room floor 28 to the angle of the
hull walls and then plank it with strips 29. The
edges of the planking are also adapted to the hull
wall as shown in fig.9.
