Maintenance work
NOTICE
Risk of material damage!
Do not use solvents (e.g. acetone, alcohol) or cleaning agents
containing abrasive particles for cleaning and disinfection.
► Only clean the mask using the described methods and
cleaning/disinfecting agents. Other agents, dosages and
contact times can damage the product.
For information on suitable cleaning agents and disin-
fectants and their specifications, see document
9100081 at www.draeger.com/IFU.
3.3.1 Cleaning and disinfecting the full face
mask or mask/helmet combination
1. Remove any accessories, such as mask spectacles, and
clean them separately.
RP: Place the wipers in the centre of the visor.
2. Prepare a cleaning solution consisting of water and a
cleaning agent.
3. Clean all parts using a soft cloth and cleaning solution.
4. Thoroughly rinse all parts under running water.
5. Prepare a disinfectant bath consisting of water and a
disinfectant.
6. Put all parts to be disinfected in the disinfectant bath.
7. Thoroughly rinse all parts under running water.
8. Leave all parts to dry in the air or in a drying cabinet
(temperature: max. 60 °C). Do not expose to direct
sunlight.
Mask/helmet combination: Do not place the mask/helmet
adapters down on the face seal.
9. Mask/helmet combination: If necessary, grease the
guides on the mask/helmet adapter with Voltalef
®
Molykote
111.
10. Fit the accessory, if necessary.
P/PE/ESA/RA: The facepieces are also suitable for
mechanical cleaning and disinfection. Further information
can be obtained from Dräger.
3.4
Leak test
General notes
Carry out the fit test with a suitable test unit (e.g. from the
Testor or Quaestor series).
3.4.1 Check for leaks
1. Moisten the face seal with water.
2. Panorama Nova P/PE/ESA/RA, CDR 4500: Moisten the
exhalation valve with water.
3. Mount the facepiece on the test head, if necessary using
the corresponding mount for mask/helmet combinations.
4. Make sure that the face seal fits tightly onto all parts of the
test head. Inflate the test head if necessary.
5. Seal the connector with the adapter and produce a
negative pressure of 10 mbar.
The facepiece is considered leak-tight if the pressure drop
is less than 1 mbar/min.
Panorama Nova RA/PE/ESA/P, CDR 4500: If the
facepiece is leaking, consult the following chapter (see
"Test with tightly sealed exhalation valve (Panorama Nova
P/PE/ESA/RA, CDR 4500)", page 10).
10
Panorama Nova RP: If the facepiece is leaking, consult
the following chapter (see "Fit test under water", page 10).
3.4.2 Test with tightly sealed exhalation valve
(Panorama Nova P/PE/ESA/RA, CDR 4500)
1. Remove the exhalation valve disc.
2. Insert the exhalation valve plug and secure with the spring
bridge.
3. Generate a negative pressure of 10 mbar.
4. If the pressure drop is less than 1 mbar/min, remove the
exhalation valve test plug and insert the new valve disc.
5. Repeat the fit test (see "Check for leaks", page 10).
If the facepiece still leaks, carry out the fit test under water
(see "Fit test under water", page 10).
3.4.3 Fit test under water
1. Immerse the test head, including the facepiece, in water.
2. Generate a positive pressure of approx. 10 mbar.
3. Slowly turn the test head under the surface of the water.
Emerging air bubbles indicate the leak.
4. Take the test head with the facepiece out of the water,
repair the facepiece and replace leaking components.
5. Repeat the fit test (see "Check for leaks", page 10).
3.4.4 Test the opening pressure of the
exhalation valve (Panorama Nova
P/PE/ESA)
The opening pressure must be at least 4.2 mbar at a constant
flow of 10 L/min. If this opening pressure is not achieved, turn
the valve disc to remove dust particles or similar between the
crater and the valve disc. Then repeat the test.
®
or
If the opening pressure is still not achieved, replace the spring
and repeat the test.
3.4.5 After testing
1. Remove the adapter.
2. Remove the facepiece from the test head and dry if
necessary.
3. Position the exhalation valve cover and snap it into place.
3.5
Replacing the speech diaphragm
1. Disconnect the inner mask.
2. Unscrew the speech diaphragm with the speech
membrane wrench and remove it.
3. Visually inspect the speech diaphragm and O-ring and
replace them if necessary.
4. Full face masks with metal speech diaphragms: Insert the
O-ring and speech diaphragm and secure with the
corresponding threaded ring.
