SENSOR CONNECTIONS & MOUNTING
In respect to the configured suptype, the A6630 offers the opportunity of different temperature
measurements at each of the A6630 monitor inputs. Each of the inputs consists of four contacts
(e.g. channel 1 consists of four contacts CH1A, CH1B, CH1C and CH1D) for connection of
thermocouple sensors, RTD 2−wire sensors, RTD 3−wire sensors or RTD 4−wire sensors. In
this relation, if using only 2−wire sensors like thermocouples or 2−wire RTDs it's possible to use
more than one sensor at one input channel. For this reason, the four input contacts of each input
channel are split into two sub channels (e.g. channel1 consists of channel1a and channel1b).

1.6.1 F48− mounting
If using the A6630 without any pre− configured rack system (like CSI 6500 or IMR 6000/xx) the
determination, which sensor type can be used at which input of the A6630, only depends on the
chosen subtype of the monitor.
F48 mounting in "Thermocouple mode"
In "Thermocouple mode" only two thermocouples can be connected to each of the channels 1
and 2. For that reason, the channels 1 and 2 offer the opportunity to connect 4 thermocouple
sensors in total at these two channels. Connection of RTD sensors is not possible at channel
1 or 2 in "Thermocouple mode".
Fig. 3:
F48− mounting at channel 1 and channel 2 in "Thermocouple mode"
In "Thermocouple mode" one thermocouple and one 2−wire RTD or alternatively just one 3−wire
RTD or one 4−wire RTD can be connected to each of the channels 3 and 4. Thus, the channels
3 and 4 also offer the opportunity to connect up to 4 sensors in total at these two channels.
Maximum, one thermocouple and one 2−wire RTD sensor can be connected per channel.
Always keep in mind that temperature measurements with thermocouple
sensors need to be equipped with some kind of cold junction compensation
for ensuring proper measurement values and to eliminate influences of envir-
onmental mounting conditions of the A6630. For this reason, epro recom-
mends to connect one RTD− sensor per A6630 temperature card directly to
the connection clamps of the Backplane (CSI 6500 or IMR 6000/xx) or the F48
connector and to configure this sensor for CJC (cold junction compensation)
in the A6630 software configuration.
